My LLMD says no carbs and no sugar if you want to get better! I know others that don't share that opinion though. Can anyone tell me if these foods are ok in moderation:

High fiber whole wheat wraps - carbs 10, sugars 0
Crystal light pure - carbs 3, sugars 3
Whole wheat pop cake - carbs 4, sugars 0
Rice cakes made with brown rice - carbs 8, sugars 0
Long grain brown rice
Products with 0 sugars but contain sugar alcohol
2 servings of high fiber fruit each day
All natural peanut butter - carbs 6, sugars 1
All natural jelly sweetened with splenda - carbs 5, sugars 0
Organic baby yogurt
Sensible Portions veggie straws - carbs 15, sugars 1

I would dump all except maybe the whole wheat items. (limit to one of those wraps per day)

The occasional peanut butter.. maybe .. but almond butter is safer.

Brown rice once a week.

sugar alcohols will GROW YEAST .. as does Splenda and other artificial sweeteners. Go with Stevia.

Artificial sweetness are dangerous to consume, with or without Lyme disease.

Correct. Try Stevia instead. It's not bad, and it won't contribute to yeast problems.

Here is "skies" wonderful recipe for pancakes. They are awesome!!

Flaxseed Pancakes

DRY PORTION:
*3 Tbsp ground flax seeds
*1/2 tsp baking powder
*1/2 tsp cinnamon
*1 pkts of stevia(optional)

WET PORTION:
*1/2 tsp organic extra virgin coconut oil
*1/2 tsp organic almond or vanilla extract
*1 or 2 eggs (I use 2 so it's more filling)
*1 Tbsp water

Mix the DRY ingredients together then add the WET. Fry in a pan just like conventional pancakes (grease the pan with more coconut oil). The recipe makes 1 serving (2 medium sized pancakes)

The only thing on your list I would eat is the brown rice and maybe the high fiber fruit.

No artificial sweeteners of any kind. I only use Stevia if i need something.

Right, Jackie. I even drink tea with nothing now. Never thought I could do it, but I easily made the switch in a matter of days. Now I prefer it that way.

penguingirl: Some people say that some brands of coco oil are better than others. Also, there seems to be a large difference in tastes among some brands. The reviews on Amazon are helpful to determine which are the "acceptable" brands.

One thing to always keep in mind: Coco oil should always be "extra virgin cold pressed".

Lexalou: The only thing with the rice cakes is you have to be careful for candida, because they are high in carbs. Some people eat brown rice on a limited basis on an anti-candida diet.

Are they BROWN rice cakes, for real?? What's the carb count? I would eat them in moderation. White rice cakes are like any other white food. Not good.

This makes me so sad! I've always been such a junk food junkie and this list has at least made things tolerable. I don't think I can toss the peanut butter, it's the only thing I've found that keeps the doxy and zith down...

That's not TOO BAD, lexalou.. in moderation and IF you don't get yeast.

Overwhelmed... get some almond butter .. peanut butter contains mold. There is ONE KIND of peanut butter that is toxin/mold free. I lost the link to that one. Maybe someone has it.

--- or . . Google it

Hmmm... don't overdo that one either. I avoid most grains as much as possible. I do eat corn tortillas in moderation.

I think people are way too restrictive with their diets. Should you try to eat healthily? Sure. Should you try to stick to a low carb, no sugar, anti-yeast diet? Sure. Is it okay if you cheat now in then or enjoy things ``off the menu'' in moderation? In my opinion (and experience)...SURE!!

Here is what I eat regularly:

-Organic Ezekiel Bread (Ezekiel bread is made from sprouted grains, not flour. It is very low glycemic. A LIFE SAVER if you love bread like me.) I have this almost daily.
-Organic, no sugar added peanut butter from Trader Joes. Yummy. Also almost daily.
-I tend to juice most Breakfasts and lunches. My juices usually consist of Kale, Celery, Cucumber, 2 green apples, ginger, and 1 lemon. But not always.
-I have a sensible dinner which usually has whole grain carbs in moderation. Quinoa, wild rice, sweet potatoes. Sometimes regular potatoes. Quinoa Pasta.
-I eat a lot of cheese
-I eat artificial sweeteners frequently. These are in No Sugar Added Ice Cream from Edy's. I have the occasional Diet Pepsi. (1-2x / week.) Dr. B says this is ok if you can tolerate.

I also give myself one day a week where I eat what I want. I need to feel ``normal.'' For me..this is usually Friday. I have a bagel from Dunkin Donuts for B-Fast. I go out to lunch with colleagues at Work. And I make and enjoy Pizza with the family on Friday night. It makes me happy and makes me feel like I'm not a prisoner.

I take TONS, TONS, TONS, of probiotics (over 150B / day). I also take pleny of antifungals like Nystatin, GSE, Oil of O, Olive Leaf Extract, etc.

I have had ZERO yeast issues so far (that I'm aware of.)

Don't let yourself be a prisoner.
