Does anyone know the best place to buy items like those green silicone wristbands, car ribbon magnets, hoodies, etc? I want to spread a little awareness here in the Midwest!

Is there any online store that puts a portion of its profits towards Lyme awareness/research? I'd like to spend my money while supporting the cause.

I don't know if the money benefits Lyme research in any way - don't think so, but I like these:

By the way - it is "funny" that the lable on the plush toy Borrelia burgdorferi states clearly the symptoms I have,

yet my HMO doctors have not been able to diagnose me for 10 years!

Are toy companies more educated in medicine than the physicians at my HMO?

It is what it is, James.

A plush Hitler for the dog to play with may be a good thing for the soul - but I still consider him a person, too, so I could not even see and enjoy that - that is exactly where he failed in his life: humanity.

Anyway, the plush spirochete does make it more visible and makes people more aware.

I wear mine on my arm like a bracelet sometimes,

and people ask what it is,

and I tell them it is a spirochete, like syphilis,

and you can get it from a tick bite,

and it made me very ill and gives me joint pain and nerves cutting off and takes my eye sight and my brain function now.

Some people on amazon liked the plush since it makes the spirochete less threatening somehow...

It's not for everyone, I'm sure.

I thought is was interesting what others had to say, who have Lyme, and bought the toy - you can follow the link on amazon to see the reviews.

It helps me acknowledge that I still have it and I got to get rid of it somehow or support my immune system to contain it for good.

It puts the focus on the problem for me, not on all my symptoms. Makes me feel more proactive rather than a victim - not sure this makes sense - it is just a feeling.

And it is sort of cute - go figure - I am going to get anything positive from this bug I can get, even if it is just a little smile at this toy - why not?

I don't even have anything against the ticks or the spirochetes - I truely love all of creation -but they must be stopped in that they

can't be allowed to destroy innocent beings who are also a part of creation.

I appreciate your initial comment, James. Don't think it was dumb at all.

All of us are probably a little startled by this toy at first.

Several reviewers on amazon (follow the link below) put is very well in their reviews of the product, they did emphasize that Lyme is not a joke, and then said what they got from the toy that was still positive

but I think it is copy righted so I don't want to paste it here.

It gets the message out there - that is what I like about it.

People don't want to hear about Lyme from me because they have never heard about it before and so they think I am making a big deal of nothing or something that is just my personal problem.

If they heard about it before from another source - even from a toy - they are more inclined to believe that it is real.

Funny, but that's how we are as human beings, eh?
