You remember the terribly ill 13 year old I've been blabbering about for well over a year?
You remember there is a fundraiser being held this Saturday for her? www.Journey4Josie.org
Well, I talked to the mom today and get a load of this...
--------------------------
I just talked to Josie's mom, Lisa. This fundraiser has been in the plans for 5 months.
Lisa said no radio station has agreed to come. One said maybe.
Lisa has not been able to get thru to the local newspaper. She's left messages but no one calls her back.
Lisa was informed today that Senator Greenleaf (the senator supporting Senate Bill #210 for Lyme Disease treatment) will not be able to attend due to his busy schedule, even though she handed him the information at the Capitol back in May and asked him to come.
This fundraiser was started and organized by 3 middle school girls trying to support a sick friend.
The kids at the Middle School raised $7000 toward this fundraiser.
This fundraiser is to support a local girl, 13 years old, 53+ lbs, in a wheelchair, in seriously bad shape.
Proceeds from this fundraiser are being split between Pediatric Rheum. Arthritis Foundation & Lyme research & Josie's medical bills.
Why does no one want to cover this event?

I am so sorry!
It seems like the local newspaper should be there... at the very least!
I hope all goes better than expected!

I, too, know the frustration of non-participation. It's like we work our butts off to get people to come, we call them, we email....then they don't show up. Especially the ones who said from the beginning they want to get in on the ground floor of the organization. Never ceases to amaze me.

It is times like this when it pays to know someone! If they plan on doing anymore fundraisers in the future, pm me and let me know b/c I know a few people.
Too late now but keep me in mind for future events and I *might* be able to help.

Heather, lp, Garby, thank you for the commiseration. It feels good at the moment.
Philly, I'll keep you in mind. I know you said "might" and that's fine. Just someone to try will be nice.
I'll let you all know how it goes tomorrow. Maybe God will move mountains! That's what I'm praying for anyway!
