There I was, driving along and enjoying the view when my car started acting strange. It didn't steer correctly, didn't stop right, didn't sound right and didn't "feel" right. I stopped and got out.
Just by looking I could tell that i had a flat tire. So, I called the motor club and the man came right out with his service truck. "This should be easy." I said to myself.
The service guy was very nice, and i told him i had a flat tire. So, he went behind the car and started looking at the concrete street.
In just minutes he was back and told me that there was nothing wrong, as he had looked carefully at the whole street. He smiled and left.
So, thinking that I must have been wrong, I drove away. But, things were not right.
In a few days the car was even worse, so I called a different motor club. The man came right out.
I explained that I had been having trouble driving, and I knew that one tire was flat.
He went behind the car and looked at the black top road and in just a minute he reported that there was nothing wrong. I must be imagining it.
Just because everyone else could drive faster and seemingly smoother and could turn corners more easily it was no indication that I, personally, had a flat tire.
He smiled and left.
A week later I was stuck. My car made a bad noise on hard pavement, so i had been driving slowly, only on gravel roads.
This time I called a local gas station, and got a sort of shade tree mechanic.
I went through the whole story as usual, but by that time he had looked behind the car, seen the strange tracks in the gravel, and lo and behold HE LOOKED AT THE TIRE!!
As he said, "Any fool could have fixed your tire last month if they would have just listened to you and LOOKED AT THE TIRE!"
He did the repair, but what would have been a seven-dollar plug a month earlier had now gotten to where i needed a new tire, a new rim and an alignment job.
The damage to the differential and transmission may not show up for a long time, but he warned me that it was there and would give me trouble in the future.
********** Now.....think about the first ten times you told your Doctor you KNEW YOU HAD LYME DISEASE.
And, he looked at the pavement to see if the tracks looked strange...and told you just go home and take two aspirin.

After the first three years i was so stiff i could not walk. The doctor i went to that time said there was nothing wrong with me, because I was "at that age where people start feeling aches and pains". I was 37 at the time. I have a descriptive word for doctors like that, it starts with an "A".
