I just had this test done, came back negative, of course. I wonder if someone here can ID it and tell me if it was the best test or just one the Doc thought he'd order because he didn't know any better.

test code 6646 Lyme Disease Antibody, Total, Eia With Reflex to Antibodies ...

diag. Code 08881 Lyme Disease

I think that is the ELISA, which is the first test most non-LLMDs run. It's accuracy is about 40%.

I am most assuredly ****ed off now. Seeing my regular geezer-doc on monday and i'll have to think of a way to tell him that the test was crap to begin with and the results cannot be trusted. WHICH TEST SHOULD I ASK FOR? (DEMAND?) THANKS,

You want the lyme western blot done by IGeneX. Someone here can tell you what the test number is, I'm sure. That is also an antibody test.

But there is a new culture test that is said to be better. It looks for the actual organism, instead of your body's response to it. Don't know if your local GP will order it. Maybe you could give him a choice or the WB or the culture, see if he will accept one or the other.

BTW, he will tell you that the ELISA is 95% accurate. That is what they are told. First off, ASK him if it was the ELISA that he did for you.

www.igenex.com .. Test #188 and 189 .. get the blood drawn early in the week .. Mon or Tues

You can order the kit for free. Then you get your doctor to sign off on it and get the blood drawn. You send in the approx $200 when you send it in.
