Well, dogsandcats, if you had to give away your pets, you might become dogandcat, or dognocat or nodogbutacat - this would get confusing here, keeping track of your name changes, so I think you should keep your pets. Just my humble opinion...
Jackie - one of my sisters has indoor-only cats - would that work for you - ie - not letting the cat out?

MOst vets say that it is better to not let the cat out due to the outdoor dangers.
I think the breed of cat is important if you do that.
Don't recall what breed the cat is that adopted me. But, do recall watching the pet channel and learning that she is most active in the early mornings.
So true. I get woken up at 2 or 3 am and she is very active until about 9 am. ugh.
I asked others here at the apartments if there cat is like that and was told no.

We had kept him inside for the last year. He had some health problems that we just couldn't figure out. He was being treating for bart but also was throwing up at least once a day. He was also peeing in the kitchen and bathroom sinks. He was quite ornery too.
He's the last sibling of the litter we got him from. Not sure what they all had but he was only 5.
I think we're done with cats for now. It's just too hard on everybody to say goodbye.

ugh. Peeing in the house is a deal breaker for me. Something was wrong for sure.

Yes, the smell in the sinks was awful. I have poured vinegar in the sinks, that seemed to help.
I can't imagine how people felt when they visited my house. This cat would jump on the kitchen table, the kitchen island, the counter, anywhere. He'd pee in the sink as I was eating at the kitchen table.
Still, I'll miss him. I'm really bummed he had to go. I've had cats just about my whole life. This one wore me out.

Cats that pee right in front of you are usually sick and are letting you know that. Perhaps your vet missed something like a uti or crystals in the urine or food allergies (especially given that he was vomiting daily)?
