I just saw an amazing recipe for Chocolate Coconut Clusters (posted by RubyJ).
My dessert fun is homemade applesauce (boiled apples and cinnamon) and sweet potatoes with cinnamon.
It would be nice to have a taste every now and then of "chocolate". How does cocoa powder match up to candida?

I can't answer your question, but my taste of "chocolate" is carob powder (no chocolate, no caffeine, no processed sugar), mixed with a little water, mix in a dab of almond butter and mix until it looks like hot fudge.
Slice a banana in the mixture and eat!
Tastes like dark chocolate....yum!!
I can eat this without problems because it does not contain sugar cane, which I have a sensitivity to.

- If you have candida, apple sauce may aggravate that (as the sugars are more condensed and more simple since they are broken down from cooking. A raw apple would be best, and along with other foods, or just after a meal. Dark Berries, too.
Cocoa powder is fine regarding candida but it does have caffeine that can be too stimulating for those with lyme who have exhausted adrenal function.
If you think you can handle little, just don't buy a processed drink mix with any sugar or artificial sweetener. (First, make a little paste and then add to milk.)
Carob Powder is wonderful, too. I sometimes mix them in Almond milk.
Stevia is a plant sweetener that works well for me.
SweetLeaf Stevia clear drops are my favorite. Not all stevia brands taste alike.
==================
Cocoa &/or Carob Powder - a spoonful or two in a little cup.
Add coconut oil, or walnut oil
Add a touch of stevia
Ground nuts
And just enjoy slowly with a dessert spoon. -

What Keebler said - just be sure to get UNSWEETENED cocoa powder. A little goes a long way so the caffeine may not be a problem if you use a small amount.

And if you buy carob, make sure it's UNsweetened.

- You can also mix in Spirulina to many cocoa or carob treats and to smoothies.
When using cocoa or carob, the green disappears into a rich brown.
It's a green powder loaded with Beta Carotene, vitamins and protein. Best raw (I think- but you can read more about it at various sites through Google to be sure).

I use Chatfield's All natural carob powder that I buy in the organic section of my local grocery store.

The unsweetened cocoa powder is really good- mix with banana, sweetener etc. Or add to smoothies.
A little does go along way and it DID keep me up at night....
