Select what calls to you or what you have on hand. This is just off the top of my head.

Using a base of cucumber juice has great benefits in the ease of making it but also they are fresh tasting, can expand the volume without too much worry about it turning to simple carbs as too many juiced carrots can do.

-------------------------

Mostly Cucumber

some Zucchini

Kale or Chard

Broccoli

Lemon to taste

Tart Apple &/or banana

Spirulina &/or Chorella

Dash of sea salt

Variations: a carrot; 1/4 beet; Nuts

If your blender can "do" nuts, start with nuts and water to make a nut milk. The softer nuts, walnuts, brazil nuts or pecans might work in most sturdy blender.

Other nuts might require a stronger machine like VitaMix, BlendTec or similar.

Nuts add some protein and fat, essential to keep any smoothie from crashing you down an hour later.

If you don't add nuts, try to eat a few along with the smoothie. Or add a very good quality protein powder.

HEMP is BEST.

PULP matters. Also try to consume some of the pulp and save some for soups, etc. That fiber is necessary for good detox (our colon really needs it to move on out the collected waste).

The tart apple(or maybe a banana) may be enough sweetening. You do not want this to taste like candy as I think that is very bad for our brains to think everything has to taste sweet. This should taste fresh.

But if you need just a touch of sweet, add a whisper or drop of stevia (from a plant, not to be confused with artificial sweeteners).

Ice cubes could be used to make it more, well, icy.

CINNAMON or CARDAMOM or NUTMEG can also really cheer this up.

I add any veggies and little amounts of fruit. For the liquid I add coconut or almond milk and sometimes raw organic honey (tiny amount). You could add coconut oil too?

I like all veggies/fruits, so I usually am fine with the result that I make up.

Ive tried a few variations of all green leafy ingredients. Yuuuck. I thought we could not eat apples or bananas because of the sugar content.
If we can than that would defenitely make it more edible

Tart apples, a bit of banana with LOTS of greens . . . that is balancing the sugar in it.

Dark Berries would be good too.

As for the fruit, it depends on whether you are dealing with an acute candida situation or if it's under control and you are on antifungal herbs (like OLE, Olive Leaf Extract). If so, in moderation and WITH other foods, a bit of low sugar fruit gives good nutrients.

As for taste, it might be time to just not expect this to taste good but just glug it down and then eat a bit of very delicious healthful food.

As for juice, it's really less than 8 oz. that we should be doing at one time, anyway.

Personally, I think such drinks are delicious. I use a tart apple, a bit of ginger, in with celery, carrot and green.

You might adjust the balance and add in another carrot and CELERY. I'd forgotten about that in my first post.

But, really, if you are expecting this to taste like a milkshake, it likely never will. It took time for me to crave the "naked nutrition" flavor of greens, etc.

A powdered greens drink will likely be sweeter to your taste but it will be without the fiber you can get from the whole food.

Just experiment with it. I will bet you that after a while, your taste will adjust and be able to taste the complexities of it all and enjoy the freshness.

You might also prefer your smoothies to be more like milkshakes and go for NUTS, dark berries and hide in there lots of celery or cucumber, etc.

Then, you can lightly steam your greens and all will be right with the world.

Small amounts of fruit .. maybe Granny Smith apples, or the sweetness of carrots.

Tgym,

you might look in the Candida diet books for smoothie recipes. I see that you are currently on abx, so I'm sure you have to keep candida in mind, even if you are on an antifungal (I hope).

Google: Green+drink, Candida

I tried a variation of Dr Oz's recipe today.
1/2 cucumber
Handfull baby spinach
1/2 red apple ( ill try tart next)
1/2 banana
Little water and ice

Its not bad, defenitely edible. a little tart though. Im going to continue to tweak it
Maybe some celery next and some protein powder ( any reccomendations on powder)
I got some natural peanut better im going to try to mix in as well.
How about strawberries or mangos. Are they on the ok list?

Don't overdo on the sugars! all fruits are sugar

Granny Smith apples in moderation are OK.

peanut butter... not so great for yeast either

Google: Candida+diet

The ratio of fruit is VERY small. And only certain fruits, low sugar berries, tart apples (green), if a banana is used, it would be just a small bit in a large pitcher of green juice.

Some have to avoid fruit altogether but some can manage a tiny bit of only certain fruits. Sorry, mangos are not safe, far too much sugar.

Strawberries (only if organic and in small amount with other foods). DARKER berries are best, though. It takes just a few to pack a punch.

You can learn more with a search.

The reason that peanut butter can be an absolute disaster for those with candida (or anyone on antibiotics) is that they contain mold.

VALENCIA peanuts are a bit better as they are grown in a hot, dry climate (unlike regular peanuts). Other (tree) nuts butters are best, from: almonds; hazelnuts; macadamia; etc.

I make a green smoothie everyday. Here is my recipe.

2 tablespoons of flax seeds
2 large handfuls of spinach
3-4 kale leaves
2-3 slices of fresh pineapple
1/2 cup or more of coconut water

Blend in a vitamix (or other high power) blender until smooth.

The coconut water and pineapple make this very delicious! I always add coconut water instead of regular water. It gives the smoothie a yummy sweet flavor.

Well I've been blending my green drink for a few days now. The taste is not great but if its the price I have to pay to get well then I will push on.
What I have found is that after drinking one in the morning I have a few hours of energy. I've never gotten a reaction like this from any supplement.
What is the smoothie doing to my body to cause this reaction
