- Technically, it's a sugar alcohol and is not metabolized like sugar. It's safe for diabetics, regarding the fact it will not affect blood glucose or insulin levels.
As for candida, you'd want to be certain. It can cause extreme gas and diarrhea if too much is consumed, and that is a small amount.
But, IMO, I do not think anything processed to that extent is truly the best food we can be serving ourselves. It's more chemical than food and I think it's a potentially dangerous trick for our brain that may backfire.
Once in a while, maybe, but not every day.
Why not just go with STEVIA, from the green plant? It's much better for us. -

- Eh, it's not about being smart but just how dumb I was when I would go through a couple packs of gum with sorbitol - or "sugarfree chocolate" a few years back. I learned the hard way.
Also, what I sensed and now read is that the brain and pancreas can really go a bit haywire from being tricked by sweetness.
Xylitol can help prevent cavities, sure, but really why we ever started making toothpaste like like candy is beyond me.
Dissolved baking soda works just fine for me, with some GSE drops for the last brushing. (I brush, floss, brush.)
Even if using xylitol before bed for dental health, I think it's a very bad idea to go to bed with a lingering taste of sweetness. I find the auromere line a more balanced taste, from the herbs included:
