Due to news of an upcoming snow storm you would think folks would not make trips out-of-state, especially when 2-12 inches of snow has been predicted. Not exactly.

After a month of being very ill with "something?" I struggled till very late last night to straighten up and get the floors scrubbed in the event someone might decide to travel in spite of the weather reports.

I waited to do the floors until the last minute due to all the mud outside that is brought in with every person and animal that comes through my door.

While trying to sleep in this morning...

Someone made a pot of coffee and dumped nearly all of it on the brand new table cloth. Not too big a deal normally, but I had piled extra firewood inside in preparation for the storm- right in front of the cabinet with the other table cloths. Hmmmm?

I was told not to worry- they replaced my nice tropical print cloth with a thin pink plastic one they found in the work shop. Ok.

The company did show up from West Virginia. I was told one just came down with the flu sometime yesterday (contagious). It seems the only thing that makes them feel better is eating food. Really?

They said they would like to have steamed crabs- big ones like they had here last summer that were so good. Well...

It is the middle of February, there are no crabs. I was wondering if they like muskrat? The trapper was here this morning and left us three big ones. They don't.

The neighbor has been here at least three times already this morning on his 4 wheeler, with his dog following close behind him.

Oh, and did I mention the big lab was dropped off at daybreak with his bed, food and such. His family is headed to Virginia. He can't go outside because the rabbit hunters showed up with all their dogs.

I'm not sure what woke me, the barking dogs outside, the barking dog inside, or people yelling at them to stop barking because I was trying to sleep.

I think this will all be quite "funny" once I wake up completely, but then I haven't been downstairs yet to see the damage caused by the mud, the coffee pot, the 3 extra people rooting through the fridge, the 16 dogs running in and out, the bag of muskrat, or the pink table cloth.

But there is plenty of time for all that, it's only 9 AM. Do I dare go downstairs at all?

[lol]

Got a nice hotel nearby for YOU?

LOLOL, Tincup and OptiMisTick - you two are quite a team!!

Oh, and stay well if you can, TC! And I second Dogsandcats' suggestion to go to a hotel!

This reminds me of SF-style all-in-the-same-place-at-the-same-time - we were hosting the X games one summer - the extreme sport games, and they were done by the early evening, so the kids were going wild all over town -

The symphony and opera were letting out at the same time, next to each other, and there were the X game kids skating down the stairs and bannisters of both buildings, as a new sport, extreme bannister skating, I guess...

And it was the last Friday of the month - that's when bicyclists ride all over town together, with a police escort, to demonstrate that bicycling is also a valid form of transportation, and it's green - well, several thousand riders partake and it takes a while for them all to get through.

And as I was sitting there watching it all, one more group shows up - a protest march of some kind, about a couple 100 people, with a bullhorn and signs -

So picture it: the operagoers and symphony folks dressed to the nines, the extreme sports kids in breezy attire and colorful hairstyles, the bicyclers with police motorcycle escort, and the protesters - all mixed together! And no one in a car is going anywhere, and lucky to turn around if they can!

HA! Yes, a real story Pantera. I think it's over for a bit- thank goodness. Life, if anything, is never dull here. Some days are a bit funnier than others though.

Optimistic... we settled for fried oysters and crab cakes and all were happy. But I loved your ideas! I do think the dog got something like one of your "special recipes" for his supper! I wasn't around at the time, but I heard about it.

I did have to mop the kitchen floor early in the day - the coffee stains were getting sticky by the time I went downstairs.

Keeping with the program, and you REALLY won't believe this....

Someone- NOT the company- stopped by this afternoon and brought us a mounted wild bore head, complete with the snarling mouth wide-open and big ugly tusks.

How sweet! Just what I always wanted! Guess it was a late Valentine's Day present?

Then we got to go through someone's vacation photos- one picture at a time. That is something I always like to do, especially when there are over 200 pictures of ten people I don't know, along with the one I do.

I know I am bad, but sometimes vacation photos- those that are not mine- seems to scream to me...

"We went here and had lots of fun and you couldn't go."

Oh, I'm being petty, but yes, dogs&cats, that is about the time I thought of the hotel you mentioned!

BUT, had I gone to the hotel, I'd have missed the burning of the macaroni and cheese, which someone decided to heat up in an iron skillet, then went outside for a minute and "got distracted".

The skillet is still downstairs soaking and the stove parts are in the dishwasher. Luckily it was fairly warm today, so most of the smell is gone because I could leave the doors open this evening.

THAT is when I decided to take a nap. It seemed to work. The company left, the dog is still here- but sleeping now, and I've re-cleaned the house, and for now it is quiet.

Good thing I thought to record the Daytona Budweiser Shoot-Out Race today. I think I'll go watch it and see how "NORMAL" people spend their Saturdays.

And I'll bet if they had any wrecks or multi-car pileups, that couldn't even begin to compare to my day!

Robin 59369358989341-75...

That would be a site! Too funny! It reminds me of the parade of people through here today!

Yes, it sounds like a SF story gone wild! HA!

Pantera- you have a lot going on. Hope you let us know how/if we can help. Good luck on Monday!!!

Robin, yes I do. Weird ones. Always interesting though. HA!

Rumi- I wish I did! But alas, peace and quiet is not always mine.

Robin9383737595764- You pretty much got it! Amen to that.

Just Don- ho ho ho! And you're right, at one time Mel was the man. But he sort of got into a bit of a ruckus and I had to start turing down his kind offers to go on all those wild adventures. I needed a bit more sanity in my life.

STOP that laughing! And Earl says hey!

Tutu... good idea! BUT....

Remember I said I was taping the race? I waited till about midnight to turn it on- when it was finally settled down and quiet.

Unfortunately- I forgot about that new taping machine. It stops when the scheduled program time is over.... not when the program is actually over.

With several BIG crashes, the race went into overtime and after sitting up trying to watch it half the night, it quit on me with 25 laps to go!

UGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!

I JUST now found out who won- over 24 hours later! And it was the closest finish for this annual race in history!

I think I'll remember next time!!!

Well, if the muskrat doesn't work out, maybe you could fix some "possum stew" and give a prize for whoever gets the left hind foot - a la Granny Clampett.

Things are quiet as a church mouse here at my house. Want to come over?
