If you have a Trader Joes near you they have a few items that are gluten free and Udi products, especially the bagels are very good..they taste like real bagels. Try Glutino products too, the french bread, you make it yourself, is delicious!

I will eventually go on the Imflamation Diet I just needed to pick something to stay away from and see if it works :-).
There are so many GF products that it makes me feel I can at least give it a shot. I gain like 30 lbs while on doxy. I lost 10 but can actually loss 30 more...so this can just help in that effort

Eating GF will not help you lose weight.. not unless you leave out the carbs entirely. I eat very few GF products.

- Those naturally GF WHOLE SEEDS, GRASSES, LEGUMES (Quinoa, Wild Rice, whole Buckwheat Groats, etc) are much better regarding the glycemic index as they are WHOLE carbs.
The more ground down the food, the more simple carb it it and that = sugar.
Use spices and garden herbs to create a savory or sweet delight. All straight from the earth in it's intended state.
Most food "products" labeled Gluten Free are really not real, whole food. Most have additives, too.
One exception: the crackers at Mary's Gone Crackers - made from non-gluten whole seeds, etc. Not ground flour. There are other whole foods out there, too, just be sure it from SPROUTED grain - and certified Gluten-Free.
For special occasions, I find the VANS GF waffles so much better than Trader Joe's store brand. But, I find them just addictive (even when eaten correctly along with protein, veggies & a good fat).
I just can't stop or can't stop thinking about them in my freezer if they are there.
The whole grains (which are really seeds, rices, legumes) are not at all addictive to me. -

- Yes, indeed. The Van's Blueberry Waffles are - were - my favorite, too. But they are like crack cocaine to my brain.
I know it's not the tiny bit of real maple syrup I use - as I can use that with whole buckwheat groats and not be addicted. I can go months before wanting that again. (I do not have a problem with Candida, so it's not that, either).
Could be because of the "Natural Flavor" added. A few months ago, I found out that - often - "Natural Flavor" is not really natural at all and formulated to be ADDICTIVE, on purpose.
Sometimes, "natural flavor" is really MSG. At the very least, it can have the same brain addictive property as MSG does.
MSG literally lights up that addictive place in the brain. My guess is that "natural flavor" is engineered to do the same thing.

Maybe to help with the addictive nature - make GF waffles. I love the recipes on the King Arthur Flour website. Granted, I have only smelled them over the past year, as I make them for my family. But THEY love them, and they do not need to eat GF.
And Keebler, having to make them helps to cut down on the addiction cravings . Between seeing the amount of butter that goes in, and the time it takes, the edge comes off the craving!
Ah, but real maple syrup....I have missed it this past year! It's like ripping a Vermont girl's heart out not to have it this time of year!

I was actually trying to loss weight when i started doxy. I had gained about 10 lbs that winter so I was trying to get back to 185.
But nothing I did worked...I was not loosing weight...then I realized that I was always hungry and that since I had to eat something before the abx I was eating late at night...
So the doxy made me hungry in this was confirmed as a side affect by my LLMD

i actually just read that Doxy can block an anti-diurectic hormone...meaning it can make you gain water weight-- which sounds exactly how I feel.

LymeToo- most of these are made from almond or coconut flour, therefore they are not carbohydrates.

Ok, so who is right? Are they low in carbs or not?????
I guess it doesn't matter actually. I am allergic to almonds and coconut. Also if the recipes contain eggs I'm allergic to those too. Woohoo!

I've suspected nightshades w/myself too. That is very sweet of you to offer to help!
I know this sounds like an impossible request but do you have any recipes that resemble "comfort food" that are low carb and free of dairy, casein, gluten, nuts, eggs and coconut? I know that's asking a lot. Posts: 2541 | From Northeast | Registered: Jan 2008

I don't eat tomato, garlic or cheese (it sounds like you don't either) so "pizza" requires getting creative with toppings. Olive oil and roasted veggies taste great.
-I don't know if you eat fruit (I don't often), but these magic "banana ice cream" recipes sound amazing. There's no added sugar and the "ice cream" is just a blended frozen banana. The rest of the ingredients have no carbs or sugar: http://www.spoonfulofsugarfree.com/2011/02/23/chiathe-seed-of-champions/

The banana ice cream and Shamrock Shake will be out for now b/c I'm Igg allergic to banana and avocado but hopefully I'll be able to add those back in after my gut heals.
Thanks again!!!
