having lyme has changed my feet. they seem to be more swollen and the bottom still stays sore.
i wear a size 6. i have alot of shoes that have never been worn. oh sure they fit fine in the store but then when i try to walk in them at home, uh oh, no can do. and i've either lost the receipts or, stupid me, thrown away the boxes.
are the shoes changing or are my feet??

As we age our feet flatten out. You need to go somewhere where they will accurately measure your feet. I had to go up a size.

- You may also need a wide shoe &/or medical orthotics, made by a podiatrist JUST for your feet.
A podiatrist can also assess the best kind of shoes for your feet. I have been extremely impressed with the ones I've seen as they have such extensive knowledge of the foot, far beyond even orthopedic doctors - about the foot. But, then, the foot is their specialty.
I think the feet are sorely underestimated and we've neglected them for cute styles and cheap prices and awful shoe construction - for the most part - until we can't do that anymore. Most shoes have no support and actually can damage the feet over time.
Birkenstocks makes some very cute shoes now and their footbed is splendidly supportive and generous.
It's important to forget heels due to the pressure they put on the foot and spine. But, now, there are some very cute shoes that are also good for feet.
The thing is that a good pair of shoes is usually $75 dollars or more. But it's an important investment. Even the best ones go on sale.
Check out KUMFS. Google: Jay's Wide Shoes
see the wide styles offered at Zappos.com -

i ordered a couple of shoes from qvc called orthoheel and they're very comfortable. i have a very high arch and simply can't wear those flip-flop type shoes. they kill my feet.
now if i can just figure out what to do with all those shoes in the closet.
even size 6 is becoming rare. my sisters all wear size 7 and up. seems nobody has small feet anymore.

Footsmart also has the orthaheel. Don't get the "custom orthotics" there.... worthless. Get them prescribed.
I NEED to do it, but can't afford it. I have a prescription right here.

we change sizes so often having lyme. it's a pity we all can't get together and open a store!! i've kept so many things thinking "i'm going to loose weight" or "i really don't like that purse anymore and it's brand new"...
i just don't buy anything anymore cause i either change my mind or my weight.

I gained a couple of shoe sizes after I had my kids. Don't know if it was hormones, extra weight or what.
Used to be a size 6 and am now a size 8.

don't forget that weight gain can also affect shoe size .. I wonder if losing weight changes it back?

- Oh, I must have read this wrong. Sounded like you were wondering about how to move them along. Was thinking some were not worn. True, if worn and have seen their day, may be time to retire them.
Some shoes can be RECYCLED now. Very cool. You might check with your local shoe repair folks or even shoe store.

Well, come to think of it, don, I have gained and lost and my feet never changed. However, I never had a weight fluctuation of more than 30- 40 lbs.
