I just hope they know they are playing with fire, they probably don't have a clue since the CDC says tickborne illnesses is so easily cured!
I just read in this article tick-borne diseases costs cattle producers at least $10 million per year.
Ecosystem is rapidly changing due to climate change, dare I say global warming for the skeptics. Whether pollution is causing or not, people better wake up and understand the repercussions. The worst side effect from this is obviously the increase of insect population and illnesses they provide: hantavirus, west nile, lyme & co.
I honestly think that people read these headlines and articles(Yosemite), they just look at how many people are affected, which is most the time small for the individual outbreak indicated in article, and they just think it can't happen to them.
Been keeping up on a lot of headlines lately, starting to look pretty scary out there!

gees...i just watched that. so they know the birds are dying of a paralyzing disease from ticks and then they go knee deep in the nest without protection...i wonder how many got sick. or maybe they were on doxy just in case...but that is not a good message to put out there...to play round with ticks.

Yes... I know! I was VERY nervous to watch them digging around in the tree and the nest once down!
The description sounded like tick paralysis to me and it is carried by at least 2 kinds of ticks in AZ. But we all know that there are MANY more diseases in those buggers!
