God Thought Friends, Blessed 2013! Finally I'm back. Finally closed the last God Thought thread of 2012.

Payne, Thanks for the encouragement to start the new thread already [Wink]

Last time Lymetoo posted, "Recovery video for church/10,000 Reasons" about Caleb. Very inspiring. I am compelled to repost it and pray each of you are inspired, too, as we live the seconds, minutes, days, weeks, months, years...that our Creator God grants us. Here is the link.

Halleloooo to the One who loves us, draws us, holds us, fills us, and keeps us...from totally falling a part. Immanuel-God IS with us!

Daisy...it was so refreshing to watch Caleb's link once again. Inspiring as you say. Brought my life back into perspective again. Beautiful as you always share with us. Sure have missed you here on God Thought. Lamentations 3:22-23 are exactly other positive uplifty thoughts I needed. Thank you.

Payne... I like that, prayer conversations with the Lord...yeah, I sure have been chatting much with Him. I tried duct tapping my lips long enough for me to give Him a chance to speak...but well, I am so long winded, the tape started flapping around to get more words out and lost its sticky glue.

I have been doing some research on this gentelman named Jacques Derrida. A man whose philosophy approach has made him an influential figure. He has written many books. I am not real good at picking philosophy apart, but I can be a deep thinker at times. So, I would like to share some thoughts I picked apart, with you. Okay? Ok.

Is forgiving someone one of your New Year Resolutions? You know you "should" but you simply cannot reconcile "should" with the deep hurt you still feel. Consider these words from Jacques Derrida, in commenting on the Truth and Reconciliation work in South Africa: "To approach the very concept of forgiveness, logic and common sense agree for once with the paradox: that is, it is necessary to begin with the fact that, yes, there is the unforgivable. Is this not, in truth, the only thing to forgive? The only thing that calls for forgiveness, if there is any, where there is the unforgivable." Such forgiveness allows the forgiver to participate in radical transformation, but is possible only by exercising the personal choice to do it--an act of faith empowered by God's grace.

Whew! was that deep!? That took me a long time to figure out! [lol] [dizzy]

Thanks for posting that, daisy!! Saturday was Caleb's one year "anniversary".. The family celebrated by watching the Aggies win the Cotton Bowl! They pray he can return to A & M soon.

I was going to bring the link from his Caring Bridge here. Maybe MDW can grab it from FB for me?? I am working off a computer that downloads FAR TOO SLOWLY!

Thanks for prayers for my husband's family. I posted about the funeral on the thread DogsNCats started.

When I heard the story of the trapped whales I immediately thought God intervened.

Jesus Calling today

This three day weekend in January has been spent quite differently than the three day weekend last year.

Both are weekends of celebration for us. Last year we celebrated Caleb opening his eyes for the first time after 13 days, on January 18, 2012. This was the day following a prayer time held at the Aggie BSM.

January 18, 2013 not only are Caleb's eyes open, he started the weekend apart from us. He watched a movie and told us to rent and watch it. We loved hearing that because we are reminded of taking him to the lake house on weekends from Touchstone.

He didn't like to watch anything for more than ten minutes because he could not follow what was going on due to his memory deficits. Saturday, yesterday, we watched the movie he recommended and were thrilled he would be able to follow the plot which had twists and turns.

Thank you Lord for your evidence of healing which we could not see a year ago. Thank you for the healing in the days ahead which we cannot see today.


If you do not have the devotional book Jesus Calling you are missing out on a wonderful yearly devotional. The January 20th entry is exceptionally good and Caleb actually texted me a portion of it this morning. He had not checked his email to realize I had emailed him the same devotion.

It reads - As you make plans for the day, remember that it is I who orchestrate the events of your life.
Floods of memories from last year -as I awoke in the middle of the night January 19th i knew God had orchestrated the events of Caleb's skiing, injury, rescue, care, and the list goes on in both directions.

I could hardly believe the devotion I was reading the next morning after God put on my heart HE conducted what was orchestrated. ...... The devotion continues to say - don't try to figure out....simply trust Me and thank Me in advance for the good that will come of it all.

I did not know what I was thanking God for a year ago, but now I know there is much to be thankful for in those days. I do not know what to be thankful for in the days ahead, but I do thank God for what HE has orchestrated for the days ahead.

Thanks to all of you who praised God when Caleb opened his eyes last year.....and continued to pray and give thanks. We are thankful for you and your prayers.

What a beautiful journal entry by Caleb's Mom. I've always thought that she and her husband write so eloquently.

It's so good to hear how well Caleb is doing a year after his accident. God is great.

I also love "Jesus Calling". It seems that each and every daily devotional/entry in that book speaks to me...and my friend said the same thing.

I guess it goes to show you how much we are all the same.

You know what? Caleb is back in college!! I missed that info while we were gone and I couldn't read the blog. He is taking 7 hours .. one is a bowling class! Very good for his physical rehab!

His mom says he's having trouble adjusting socially .. but it's up and down on that. There are so many things he used to be able to do .. and now can't.

So I'm sure it's painful for him to see others pass him by. I sure hope he does well and keeps progressing! Keep praying!!

Good news on Caleb! YAY!! Will keep praying that he continues to progress.

I read this about Caleb yesterday and had previously read the daily devotional from Dr. Jeremiah's book, Discovery.

It was titled True Strength.

2 Corinthians 12:9

New International Version (NIV)


9 But he said to me, ``My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

The devotional points out that we are strong (in Christ) as we recognize our own human weakness,when we depend more on Him and less on ourselves.

when we forgot to pray this morning..
when blessing our food at meals..
when praying for others, nieghbors, enimies..

ones in need of healing ...

Faith. For much of my life my definition of faith was "a belief in God."

I believed that God existed.
I believed that God was lovely in all things he created.
I believed that God was omnipotent.
In a few short years of become a Christian:
I believed that God was a loving God.

However, My faith put limits on God. How could he have time to worry about me, when he had to take care of the rest of the world? Was I worthy of his time? Maybe I shouldn't bother him, and I should take care of myself.

Finally, I asked meself the most important question:
"Who am I to put limits on God?"

We are all children of God, and he does not play favorites. God is all-loving and all-powerful. He can care for us all at the same time. If we let him. If we surrender to his love. If we believe.

"Whosoever believeth in Him..."

What a beautiful gift from a loving Father, who requires nothing more of me than my faith.

I read this thread and see how God is moving by His Spirit in people's lives and situations. I am blessed.

Sorry I have not been around. Things are still hectic but, by God's grace, I am keeping first "things" first...God in the quiet time.

He is helping me prioritize as I have so much on my place...He gives me peace.

Mattew 6:33, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you."

Praise His Name Forever!

It is a very good idea to do the God Thought thread weekly. Thanks for taking up that responsibility. Sorry I haven't been around much at all.

I am doing really well, thank God, life keeps me active with various priorities and commitments. Somewhere along the line I figured I can't do everything. [bonk]

Seriously, it is wonderful and freeing to know what I am doing...is what the Lord wants me to be doing.

Blessings to all God Thought Friends. May you be blessed by this verse,

"You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand" Psalm 16:11.

As, most folks find sunday a bit laxing from world demands..
as, for myself.. sunday Am would represent prayers in need and sunday PM would be set for responses to our callings..and challanges sharing in Great Works too !!
and then the week would follow with our efforts and fasting/sacrfices to to be answered.
daisy i respect your efforts in returning here and grouping the flock..
May The Lord's Will show us HIS plan.

What is fruitfulness for the Lord? It is simply being useful for Him....

God wants to capture us by His love,
harness us by His Spirit,
shape us by His Word,
and change us into usefulness by His PRUNING!

That is what our lifetime is all about.
The shaping,
refining,
pruning Hand of God is with us all through life--either we accept it and grow,

or resent it and miss the eternal blessings.

what fruit are you ? a banana rottening away quickly, or a grape which is made into wine and stored forever ?
from the vine we grow and mature, our harvest is looked at as grains,
perhaps we need to see what our harvest continues to provide after winter
and spring rebounds..
