Good Morning. While looking for a pic to post here I ran across this instead:
If a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. ... Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

While channel surfing I heard Dr. Oz say that the reports on setting a New Years Goal for exercising are dim, the reports are wrong.
People really do succeed in achieving those goals and that part of the keys is to have others to be accountable to in your journey.
I thought about this thread. WE got it right. Posts: 15927 | From Became too sick to work or do household chores in 2001. | Registered: Dec 2002

IN a brain fog but able to get to load up power chair and go to grocery store to get some goat's milk and sleepy time tea.
Hoping to go to the other store and pick up more groceries tomorrow morning.
Rosie turned her ankle or ? when she jumped out of the car. She couldn't put weight on it so I put her back in the car.
She was fine after that.
I rested and then took her out to the forest to let her romp and play. I cruised around in my power chair.
The ringing in my ears was too much this am...looking forward to when I can go out there and enjoy the quiet.
But, we had a good romp. I took a couple of bayer extra strength hoping it would help with the brain stuff but so far...nada.

oh kam...what i nice start...i love the last thing a dog would teach us...
"When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently. "
been needing that a lot lately...but i am looking forward to
"dancing around and wagging my whole body"
i am in between 2 doc appts now. the first was with new primary er doc sent me to. i liked him. he was 60 but plans to work a long time still. he was not overwhelmed by me and able to help prioritize how to keep track of my regular stuff and did not have a problem with my armour or cortef which can sometimes be a problem with regular docs
so im getting a big cardio workup-he wants to order mold testing for me but couldnt find out how...3rd doc that couldnt figure it out and i cant communicate with labcorp i get lost in their phone system or online.
he even said intelligent things about lipitor and mitochondrial problems...no answers...but didnt talk down to me and explained some stuff i didnt understand
now i am gonna wag around a bit with etta in the snow and then go to ortho to tell him i cant take any more PT torture...not sure what the plan will be cuz this shoulder isin bad shape

Monday-25 minutes on the stair climber, arm and ab workout and leg lifts. I'm back to my usual workout now.
Oh, and I took Rocky around the back of the property.
What motivated me is thinking about my July hiking trip and getting my big rear up the mountain.
Oy vey! What's a person to do?
Loved reading what everyone was doing the end of last week's post and Kam, thanks for starting this week's.
See you all tomorrow!

Yesterday was the best one yet since hubby is home from the hospital! He had a fairly good day - was able to take a few pictures of the train going by.
He could take them out through the bedroom window. He hasn't yet gone downstairs - too much effort in going stairs. The whole high BP and hospital experience stressed his adrenals big-time.
His morning was good today - the afternoon kinda fell apart. Did a foot detox which helps him feel better.
He LOOKS better too! My SIL stopped in today and she commented that he's looking better again. Not so haggard.
Oh, Kam, I like the things dogs teach! I hope we can get a dog again. Our neighbor's dog "adopted" us when we moved here. We enjoyed him! Buddy was one of those dogs that can almost talk to you. He died of old age last summer.

he seemed interested that the steroid the PT gave me made me crash. i told him it was well known that lyme and steroids dont mix. he said they needed to find that out at his practice cuz they give a lot of steroid shots
he was a bit dismissive of me the first time...he was mad cuz my knees were done by a different practice...honestly-he was acting like a little kid...mad i didnt go to him...i lived in the other part of the state...
but he wasnt like that this time...i hope he researches it...if i had something from ilads i would send it to him but i dont know if he would accept B's guidelines
i did mention "two standards of care" and he didnt flinch...thats when he said-well if steroids are bad for ppl with lyme history we need to know it.
that was my good deed for today. walked a little at the beach with etta after...3 short walks...i just cant do much but better than sitting in recliner i guess. the beach had really gotten messed up bu sandy.

After resting, I went to the grocery store instead of washing the dishes.
Really weak. Difficulty with putting Rosie working vest on and her gentle leader.
Any movement was close to impossible at times...I did ask the fresh produce guy to help get some greens for me.
Most of the time I just do without if I am not able to get it.
If I had Rosie get these things for me when I first got her, it would have helped.
But, back then, I was still trying to stay as independent as possible.
Next service dog will be trained to get these things.
My hands are shaking more and more lately as if I have Parkinsons.
But, the good news is I have a good feeling in my stomach because I was able to get food and get the job done.
Put away the perishables. WTg to recover then I will put away the other.
And many of the items I purchased were on sale. I am not able to make a list so I usually just wing it when I shop.

Sorry lol. Haven't walked in 3 days? Been kinda
foggy lately and just not feeling to swell.
Happens after monthly cycle ends. Feel great right
before though with lots of energy. Weird. But any
way gonna walk today as soon as the tree workers
are out of my back yard. The room the treadmill is
in looks out into back yard and I don't care to
have workers looking in haha. Hoping everyone is
having a good week so far!

Tuesday-Whew! 25 minutes on the stair climber, arm and ab workout and leg lifts. Didn't walk Rocky around the property cause I had to come in early today.
Working 9 hours today. It's 1:27 and I'm flagging. Feeling kinda shaky, maybe from working out with my 5 pound weights.
Just found out I have to work 9 hours again tomorrow. Oh joy....seriously I can use the money.
MannaMe-Glad to hear your hubs is feeling better.
Kayak-Wish Rocky and I could join you and Etta for a walk on the beach. Sounds heavenly. BTW, have you heard of taking Fenugreek and Thyme for sinus issues? I'm thinking of giving it a shot. Still taking sinus stuff but want to try something natural.
Kam-You and me both are on the shaky side today. I like buying sale items too. Kroger grocery stores have what they call the 'manager's specials' that are cheap-cheap.
Disney-Lord have mercy, I wouldn't want anyone looking at me either when I work out. It's not a pretty sight when I'm up there on my stair climber. Or doing my ab video come to think of it.
See you all tomorrow!

disney-its pretty well known that lyme is affected by monthly cycles. at one of the first conferences i went to a woamn from CA talked about that...
well...today was supposed to be rest day for me and it sorta was...i never even got dressed. but my friend came over to start peeking behind the bedroom walls to see if we find any mold or moisture and we hit the jackpot. very disappointing.
she usually comes to work for about 1-2 hrs and then we visit for an hr...today it was 4 hrs of work and we were both way too exhausted. she is fighting lyme too but in a whole other level than me.
like you 2 above getting on those machines. but AK i remember when you started and could only do a few minutes and that is a motivation to me to get going as soon as i can.
this "moldy" room is so bad the framing in the walls is rotted from it. you can see how they covered it up ... creepy ppl. not sure how i will handle it now but need some rest first.
all i did was find her some tools and bags to bag the stuff up. i still was in my chair most of the day. but just the interaction and knowing someone else is here wears me out. i know you get that KAM.
etta had a little extra excitement...she kep sneaking in and grabbing little pieces of sheetrock and running away with them.
well..no diet yet and a day behind on paperwork and stuff. early bed. im warm. my tummys full. im gonna cuddle with etta. nite

Able to go back and scrub cookie sheet and glass baking dish.
Caregiver did not show this am. Rec'd msg from organization to call them. I called and got an answering service.
Left my email address so hoping they communicate with me via email...
Started to get ready to take Rosie out to the forest to run...
Heard a knock on the door..thought it might be a caregiver...
nope..it was a neighbor asking if I wanted her to help take down my Christmas decorations on my front door.
made the mistake and said yes. That did me in...the questions that is..that part of the brain just wasn't working.
Last time she asked if she could help me with something I ended up throwing out a part to my vacuum which didn't work after that.
Not her fault. I just can't chew gum and walk at the same time kind of thing.
Went to take Rosie out to the forest again...as sitting in the car and having it move my body works in the am most of the time.
But, forgot I had not closed the screen doo. So, when I opened the apartment door Rosie saw the open door and dashed out.
spent the next 10 min keeping an eye on her until she settle down and I could get her back on leash..I was in my power chair.
So, I am done in now. Left arm hurting aching again....

Got up at 6, after brushing teeth, tortured myself for 25 minutes on the stair climber.
And as if that wasn't enough proceeded to do 3 sets of 12 leg lifts, overhead triceps extensions and monkey biceps curls.
Then just because I'm a glutton for punishment, I added an ab video.
Putting in a nine hour day then home to cook a quicky dinner.
Kayak-Boy do I remember starting my workout last summer. Was it only 6 or 8 minutes on the stair climber when I started? Probably 6. Flat Top mountain in Anchorage is looming nearer and nearer. I just gotta lose some weight!
Kam-I really had to keep my motivation going to get my Christmas stuff down. Didn't take long because I don't have alot of things (thank God). BTW, I absolutely hate it when Rocky runs out the door. He doesn't do it very often but he knows I can't catch him. When he gets his butt home, he gets yelled at and sometimes a spanking with my slipper. OMG, that's just what my mother would do when we were really bad. I've turned into my mother.....
TuTu-Welcome home and hope all is well.

i still need a few groceries but there was way too many ppl at the store when i went by. i hope i can rest and goe back. it was raining these big ice chunks when i got home tho-i wont go out unless that stops
i talked to my carpenter brother and decided how to deal with the rotten 2x4 walls. and i am looking forward to having more space to use.
my frind will do more sheetrock work to morrow and every other day until i can use the rooms. she will help me move the furniture back in too.
also i have to schedule an mri for shoulder and stress echo...
its going to be warm and i hope to sit in the yard and watch etta play a little bit too.
im so glad weather has calmed down. it was awful everywhere for so long. i saw the south maine coast today and there was all kinds of damage-lots of big machines-cranes and bulldozers to fix the ocean front places

Thanks for checking in Tutu. Looking forward to when you are able to get out and about again.
Maybe Spring I hope.
On my feet at the kitchen sink twice thsi am so far. I really need to stop being so stubborn and sit in the power chair.
I was trying to figure out what to do next with the list of things I would like to do.
Opened the frig and that helped me decide. If able, I hope to cut up the cucumbers and put in a zip lock bag so they will be ready for snack time, cut up the carrots and do the same, and make hard boiled eggs.
Resting now and it is almost 10 am so not sure just how much more I will be able to do this am.
I was also able to sort the laundry and make some detox tea.
And drive Rosie out to the forest at sunrise to let her run and frollick and sniff.
I put my trash outside my door in the hallway this am. Sometimes it disappears when I do that.
Hoping it disappears again. If not, hoping I am able to take it out some time today.
Not as cold out this am. No ice on the cars. Still snow on the north side of the street on my way to the forest. South side has melted.
I'd like to drive out to the creek that I like East of here but health is not up to it. Guessing there is still snow there as it is in a shady spot.
I'd also like to stay there and build a campfire. but, again, health is not up to that.

ALW...good to hear about the progress you are making with your routine. Very cool. Sorry, to hear it was torture. That is not cool.
It really stresses me when Rosie looses her head like that. I am OK if I can see her and know she is safe.
Most of the time I am able to keep an eye on her until she settles down again..it usually only takes about 10 min.
She keeps her eye on me. She will not have me out of her sight for long either.

Hi everyone!
Today was my usual 25 minutes on the stair climber, arm and ab workout with leg lifts just for fun.
Kayak-I did some sheetrock work at my trailer when I had a water leak and boy, does it look crappy. I did the best I could and it was a whole lot better than having just a big square cut out of the wall.
Kam-Kidding about the torture. It felt that way when I started last summer. Now I'm getting the hang of it. BTW, do you trim Rosie's nails and if so what do you use?
Working a little over six hours today then home for some canned soup and crackers.
See you all tomorrow!

glad youre up and about kam
ak-not sure if i explained i am pretty sure we have to cut the sheetrock to see what is behind it...but i plan to save on labor of putting it back by putting up really hig baseboard-like 9 or 10 inches and in the places we really have to go up im gonna put that bead board. it ends up much cheaper than havitn it taped etc and is so much faster and not so dusty
sooooo!!!!! my friend was here 4 hrs and i have an exercise room with some dressers in it for storage and a closet for clothes and my elliptical all ready to go and a chair and the sauna is put back together...but not quite working yet. something electrical. it has been taken apart and moved so many times it is a wonder it worked the last time. i hope we can figure it out---but now we have a plan it is going fast.
hope one more room is done before monday and then the bathroom sink put back and i will be living a pretty normal life in all but one room.
i really want to get on that new way of eating...its called the virgin diet. i have the food...but all i was supposed to do today was pour my meds and pay some bills and i didnt do any of it. it seems my friend would ask a simple question like "where is this" or "where shoudl i put this?" and it exhausted me and slowed her down just to think it thru and get the words to come out...
so all i can do is restnow. hope i do that impt stuff and move a little tomorrow. she wont be back til saturday.
wait-i moved some furniture---thats my exercise
ak-so proud of you...and jealous of your will power

Rosie is giving me the look. She wants to go out to the forest and have some off leash time.
I just washed some glasses and silverware while sitting in power chair. I am exhausted.
So, resting now, then hoping to drive Rosie and I out to the forest.
I also went around the short blk this am in the big boy power chair. There is a stretch where I am actually going down Main Street until I come to a place I can get on the sidewalk.
It was dark 30 out. I was on that stretch. SAw headlights coming at me. Wondered if I would get to that place to get on the sidewalk before the car got to me
As it was coming closer it sounded like a big vehicle.
It was the trash truck...fortunately he saw me and moved over.
got on the sidewalk...ran into a semi truck who was on the move..he had parked in the dirt parking lot on Main St.
Thankfully, he saw me too and waited until I passed before getting on the street.
My brain was in a fog so all of this was too much for me this am and I did not have my ear protection muffs on so the noise of it all interferred with my brain processing what was going on too.
Able to plug in the big boy power chair to charg this am.
Kayak...when I am running on low..which is most of the time...my brain does a lousy job too with procesing questions and answering them...it makes me worse.
I have been also going into a coughing thing for some time now which is different than just the usual dry cough.
I have to close my eyes and just lay still for a while to recover.
ALW...I have yet to get in the habit of trimming Rosie's nails or pulling the hair out of her ears.
I still pay someone to do that for me. I don't trust my small motor skills and my hands shake now too.
I keep wtg until I am doing well enough to trim her nails but if I am doing well enough, I choose to trim her hair instead then am too out of it to try nail trimming.

Able to run 3 errands this am via the Big Boy POwer Chair.
Thankful the post office clerk addressed the envelope for me as my hands were shaking to much.
Same with the clerk at the bank. I could not get my checks out so had her do it and then just scribbled something on the paper for my name as hands were shaking to much.
3rd errand was not successful...i was trying to get some terry cloth towels I got at the auto store years ago but clerk said they no longer carried them.

Doing my Friday dance!!! Look ridiculous, but am doing it anyway!!!
25 minutes on the stair climber, ab and arm workout and my ancient ab video.
Took Rocky around the back of the property.
Picked up some triple-milled lemon verbena soap from World Market today, ate a slice of pizza at Sam's then off to work.
Kayak-Duh....why in the world didn't I think of bead board! Glad that you got your workout room up and running. My stuff's on the porch and in the livingroom. You know Kayak, the only thing really motivating me lately is the nay sayers at my job. They think I'm way to old and fat to make it up any hill let alone a 1850 foot mountain. So my attitude is more like, 'I'll show them', not very commendable I'm afraid.
Kam-Just hearing about Rosie giving you the look makes me smile. When Rocky does that to me, I just hug him and kiss him (which he detests) until he stops! He's got one crazy Mama!
Have a great weekend everyone!

i cannot believe the level of pain today and fatigue. still have not poured my meds..are only taking some of tham..need the walker..and havent gotten near the bills or calendar to schedule tests either
at 1 i realized that was the warmest part of day ane went out to sit while etta played but big snow problesm--cant close gate-she got loose 3 times and she is afraid of snow falling off roof and any tool i pick up so i quit. i had smashed my hand into the shed wall when throwing salt and just could nt push snow shovel any more
so i went and filled up with gas cuz ice is coming again tonight...and now i will try to finish meds. i think i better make a soup if i have any more energy...leave bills for tomorrow. if the power goes out from ice its easy to heat up soup on my little propane stove
gonna rest now...has tutu said when shell be driving home?

ALW...I think it would be fun to put together a video of all the funny dances we do.
I tried to do a little tai chi last night while sitting in my power chair. I just did the hand movements. Est 5 min
I had times when the brain talked to the hands without a problem and other times when it was a struggle.
We have someone who comes to the apartments every Friday so hoping to do a little every Friday if health allows.

kinda slow day. i had to ice myhand to get to sleep last night...and i thought it was ok but now is hurting again. what a dummy...smacking a shed...as if i have nothing else to do
my friend that helps me...had a problem...she needed me to go to her house. it was pretty easy...but did involve climbing full set of 8" stairs.
we are in january thaw and i woke up to mold in house so put the machine on b4 i went to help her. then after i turned it off etta and i had to hang out while i aired out the house.
i did some shoveling...almost done getting propane take clear...and i think we get one more warm day b4 it turns cold again.
so didnt accomplish too much but it felt good to help someone else.
im so behind on paperwork-almost the 15th and i havent paid the bills due on 1st. that is the priority i guess.
ohhhh. my chicken soup came out good and i made stewed bluberries to put on my rice cake with walnut butter for breakfast. im almost doing that new diet thing

see...youre reminding me i did shovel today. and i climbed those stairs today. kinda like the spoon theory i guess. i have just so many steps in me. for the last 2-3 hrs i cant hold weight on my right lower leg and i am using walker and kinda freakin out over it. it reminds me of the 3 weeks i couldnt walk until i stopped lipitor.
i need to calm down. maybe do a little less and be sure i take the supps...if i dont take that mito protocol...it happens.
im also getting way too many charley horse type leg cramps...most of them the size of a quarter or a ping-pong ball. wierd. i doubled my mag. i eat my 1/2 banana. this has always kept the cramps away.
just going thru changes i guess. wrong direction.
nite.
