Anyone try this stuff? Just wondering if it helps at all.

- Every cell in me just shouted (in a kind, whoa, watch out tone) "no, no, no" as I could nearly feel the irritation and drop that could cause someone with lyme.
Please don't feel like I'm judging you by my dramatic reply. I was just talking to someone yesterday about how, after one of the several times I had quit coffee for a long time, I had my first introduction to a latte in a bookstore coffee shop.
I got so very sick, so fast and it was not fit for human sight. I think that same visceral sensation returned when seeing "coffee bean extract" so that you don't wind up in similar shape.
Dr. B states in his guidelines "no caffeine" or other stimulating stuff (paraphrased).
Coffee bean extract is likely going to be like rocket fuel to someone with lyme and the adrenal exhaustion and nerve irritation issues.
It's also a very harsh way to loose weight and puts the body under stress, anyone's body, IMO. -

- GREEN TEA, however, some varieties with very low caffiene (but also balanced with the calming L-Theanine) might be a good way to go instead. It's been helpful to weight loss but won't be rocket fuel.
There are some other suggestions here that will be kind to your body:

Ok. Caffiene has never bothered me, so I guess I can't relate.

Same with me, linky. I actually bought some and am using it, but so far I'm not losing weight. Perhaps it's because I'm on neurontin. I haven't noticed any negative effect. I'm not noticing anything!

Lymelady, I guess we're all different.
Matter of fact, when I get a headache, I usually reach for a cup of coffee as it usually helps.
Let us know if you see any results from that coffee bean extract.

- There may be various reasons that Dr. B cautions against stimulants such as caffeine. It's just good to consider that we may not know all the reasons other than that the adrenals are often just exhausted with lyme (and that adds to weight gain) but if adding stimulants - even "just" caffeine, that can make things worse with weight if adrenals are toast.
Stimulants such as caffeine may also be too much for the immune system . . . the heart rhythm . . . sleep . . . and one other possibilty but I can't remember but had on on the tip of my mind just moments ago.
Oh . . . caffeine is diuretic in nature. It can cause us to loose vital minerals. -

Good points Keebler. If I don't watch it, caffeine becomes a habit.

Well, I tried Green Coffee Bean extract this month. Since I'm not actively sick, I drink coffee (2 cups in the AM). Now I'll tell you....this coffee bean stuff definitely helped with my appetite. It was non-stimulating and the brand I got had less caffeine than a cup of coffee. As far as losing weight: NO!
I have had a weight gain in the last 6 months; as much as 10 lbs. I've gone up a size & it's all in the stomach & upper thighs. Yes, the coffee bean stuff works for cutting appetite. I personally didn't lose weight, mainly because I won't listen to what my body is telling me when it says NOT HUNGRY. Instead, I go into emotional eating and pig out.
I guess if you are out of treatment and fairly healthy, it might work to try this. I may go another round with it. It does seem, however, that the infrared sauna I've been using the past 9 days has helped cut my appetite, for some reason. Very interesting.
