Hey all. It's been five years since I've been on here but now I'm back...
Quick story, my son was treated for 30 days in 2008 with Ceftin after I was pos. I can not find his results right now. I remember based on my pos bands and his pos bands, my dr said I passed Lyme to him via pregnancy or nursing.
Is there any new literature on that fact or what some drs call a myth? He never showed symptoms tough I had every one. We were both tested via Igenex. I had two years mino/ doxy and 30 days Riocephen.
My son is 11 now. He tested positive for Flu B. We have an appt for blood work tomorrow and to start 30 days doxy. They think the flu activated his Lyme. Is there truth to that?
The big concern is he is losing his ability to walk. Very strange. With fever, can walk fine. No fever and his caves cramp so bad he can't stand.
What I want to know please, what is the latest on the ability for Lyme to pass through pregnancy. We have moved and no longer live near my dr that treated both of us. I do live in one of the most endemic counties in the US now.
Are there new tests now? I've blocked all this out since we have been well for five years! What should I prepare for and not settle for when we see our LLMD this week? I'm dreading this fight all over again.

i hope you can get him good help asap. i had to treat 3 of my kids and i was aggressive about it and they are ok now. college grads, working , married.
one got it thru placenta and nursing.
this leg cramp thing is happening to me and other ppl on here-so it might help to use the search
i didnt figure that out about the fever...but all i know is sometimes i have cramps so bad in my lower legs i cannot walk-even a step-to get to bathroom or other emergency. and other times i can walk normal. normal for me is not very laong becasue other things happen-but it is not the cramps.
i have not talked to llmd about this. i havent treated in awhile. i have arthritis all thru spine and many other places-knees have been replaced.i am working with regular docs to rule out pinched nerves, knees loosenting etc
so far they cant find anything.
my right leg is worse than the left and if i sleep in the recliner it is not as bad. also if i sleep on my left side...it is not as bad. and fish oil and coq10 plus other "mito" combo supps seem to help but not stop it
it reminds me of cramping i got when on lipitor...but mostly i have not figured it out and it has been since thanksgiving.
it just makes me wonder why so many are having this problem when it is not a problem i remember being talked about that much.
in general it is impt to be sure you get good quality magnesium and calcium, postassium and vit d if cramping is a problem.

i just wonder if there might be a new bug or Bb strain to cause this specific sx.
also you have an excellent llmd in DC...hope you can get to the best...his future is at stake.
the child that got it thru my pacenta and breast mild had tx one full year and then detox and anti yeast one full year

Muscle cramping is a symptom of low magnesium. Pain in the calves can also be a symptom of low B vitamins. When I started a B12 sublingual (under the tongue) the first thing I noticed was that the pain in my legs improved.
