Everyone knows how discouraging it is for those of us who are in the south because of the lack of acceptance of the disease here. We all know it's denied elsewhere, more accepted in the northeast. I get really discouraged and upset when I confront this issue. It makes me want to march to the state health departments and scream at them and asking them "WHY!?" Why the Lyme exclusion in reporting? What do they have to gain or lose by reporting it? Ugh!
I wrote an article a few months ago about this problem, focusing on one state in particular. I want to share the link at the bottom of this post. I think the only way to fight back is to spread the word (as we all know). It makes me feel better, anyway. I felt a need to vent this. I'm feeling angry and helpless because I've had such a lack of willingness from others in the immediate area to help me plan things.

I lived for over 20 years in Virginia which is in the south and they are the ones who are pioneering legislation to change things right now. It is a very endemic state.
I moved to get away from all those ticks and in Colorado, no on speaks of Lyme at all.

I understand, faithful I'm so glad VA is doing something now. I'm praying that this particular state will take off the blinders.
