Hi everyone. I am still such a fragile mess lol that I feel reluctant to give advice or suggestions but I just wanted to tell everyone that therapy is EXTREMELY helpful for the depression and anxiety that are attendant with this illness.

I was incredibly reluctant to return to therapy, but in just the few short weeks that I have resumed I feel that it truly is helping.

I am still SEVERELY depressed and have some passively suicidal thoughts but I also am beginning to slowly crawl out of the worst of my depression and I am finding my voice which is critically important for all of us who have been stymied and in some real ways silenced by our illness .

I just wanted to tell anyone on here that is struggling with mental and emotional issues and on the fence about therapy to please try to seek help. It is too difficult to get through this illness without support and sometimes you need professional support that friends and family alone cannot provide.

My husband thinks my therapist is saving my life and I would not disagree.

Thanks for indulging the message. And please seek help if you need to. There truly is nothing to be ashamed of in reaching out. Jess

I'm glad it's helping, and I agree with you, Jessica - I think good therapy is helpful for whatever we're going through.

I was sent to therapy several times during the undiagnosed years, and I learned a lot about coping and about life. When I came in with a diagnosis, I tried to find as many of them as I could and let them know I had something real!
