I really dont want to come across as being a whiner on here or anything, but man, I am SO tired of being sick, and having to just keep WAITING to start treatment!

I had been treated for chronic lyme up until about 4 years ago, but suspect maybe I have either been having a relapse or been reinfected.

I found two more ticks on me around August of last year, but no rashes, symptoms, etc

until I woke up on New Years Day so sick I couldnt get out of bed.

Joint pain, muscle and rib pain, nausea and vomiting, neck stiffness, headache --- I went to the

ER and they (after telling me there's "no such thing as chronic Lyme"!) told me I probably had the flu and gave me Tamiflu.

It did nothing. I have been sick on virtually a daily basis since then.

I am eating almost nothing (a sandwich is split between lunch and dinner), and the pain is so bad I begged my PCP for vicodin (which he gave me, along with gabapentin).

I wake up nearly every hour each night.

I am forgetting words again, and becoming dizzy and confused like I did when I was first diagnosed.

I am just in misery now on a daily basis. And I have to go to work!

It took me 6 weeks to get an appointment with my LLMD, and finally got to see him yesterday. I went with my list of symptoms and supplements and stuff that I have been trying to help myself with.

After a brief exam and some questions (about 20 minutes) he said he thought I was reinfected, but he wanted me to have blood work done and come back in a month.

I can understand the need for the labs, but I was really hoping to walk out of there with at least an antibiotic prescription!

I mean, I would like to at least start being treated!

Am I being unreasonable?

My heart goes out to you. It's tough when your life starts feeling like the highlight is going to a doctor and then having tests that you "hurry up and wait" for.

I can't vouch for your doctor or the way he/she does things. I know that I've heard about it both ways. I do know that some doctors will start treatment when they suspect, but others want to go by the book and not do something that legally someone can come get them on later. So they wait on tests. :-(

I suppose I was lucky since I went five years not knowing what was wrong, but when one dr. ran the test, I saw a Lyme Doctor for the first time who read my tests so I was treated as soon as I knew.

Is it possible to go back to the doctor that treated you before? I only ask since I got re-infected while I was totally across the country and only had to send my LLMD a picture of the Bulleye and he called in meds that day.

But they ALL do things so differently and with our doctors under a microscope with everything they do, they just don't want any more risks.
