I was carrying groceries in the garage. I was between my car and the wall. He has all bis tools hanging on nails and boards. Well I hit the lawn edger and I was facing the car kind of sideways. Lawnedger hit me square in the upper back and between the shoulder blades.

I felt a.huge cramp and stinging sensation. Last night it hurt to lay down cause it was stinging between my shoulder blades eeally bad.

It just aches now really bad with a bad cramp sensation

Don't know if I've damaged anything or not but its pretty painful
How can you injure yourself standing up

Well I apparently can....

Do some gentle stretches of the chest (pectoral) muscles. Lie on your back and make very slow snow angels, palms facing ceiling. Then do it again but with your arms bent 90 degrees and palms facing ceiling.

Or instead of moving through the "snow angel" shape, just stop on different points along the curve and stretch for a few breaths each time.

This won't cure the back injury but it will undo some postural stuff that makes it hurt more and heal less. Good for most anyone with upper back and shoulder pain. Slow is important.

Definitely go see a chiro or a massage therapist before it all tightens up on you and then you are in even more trouble. Take it from someone with too much experience in this!

I hope you can find ways to relieve the pain!!! If you have access to quality essential oils, use lavender, peppermint, or Aroma Siez; anything to relieve the spasms and pain.

I second the seeing a chiro, the sooner the better.

They can help put things back in place and if you need more can send you to who you'd need to see.

Can you have your husband inspect your back and see if you have damage to the skin or any bruising?

First aide for a contusion for the first 24 hours is to apply ice, to chill the injured tissues.
After that you can do hot compresses, which increases blood circulation to help heal the damage.

If you do decide to see a chiropractor, find one who uses PEMF, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy.
This is remarkable for helping injuries to heal faster.

I'm sure the professional models are stronger than the home models you can buy, although I've been very pleased with how well mine works.

Good advice from Carol. And that is non-invasive and non-"digging" so to speak. Still best to be assessed for vertebrae damage so you are clear. Even if so, what Carol suggests can be very good.

"How can you injure yourself standing up?" (you ask). You encountered a collision. Happens all the time. I used to walk into a lot of door jams.

A massage therapist will probably not touch you until you are examined / imaged because, as described, it hit with some degree of force right at your spine - it could be damaged.

A chiropractor might not touch you until it is imaged, either.

You say: "Lawnedger hit me square in the upper back and between the shoulder blades." (end quote)

Anything you do now should be gentle, no digging around that area until you get a medical assessment.
