These are some of the things I do to handle stress. I am not always successful at it but this is what I try.
An acupuncturist once told me that when I'm stressed to 'float'. Give yourself a few minutes to decompress. Put everything on hold including decisions and negative thoughts. It doesn't have to be a long time. A few minutes can really make a difference. While doing that listen to calming, soothing music.
I read the Bible, especially the book of Psalms.
Tell myself that my job today is to be positive.
Put priorities first and let the small stuff follow where there is time. Do the best you can and don't worry about the rest. Whatever doesn't get done today is not a catastrophe. Life goes on.
Focus on the things that build you up, make you feel positive and not the things that drag you down. Then you can encourage someone else and they in turn may be better able to encourage you.
Make a mental or physical list of positive things that you can read again and again.

Sometimes I go do something completely different, to remind myself there is life out there besides my problems!
