I am mostly bed bound for the last couple months. I know a lot of us spend our days in bed. Mostly i feel too bad to be bored but sometimes I am really bored too.

What creative things do you do to pass the time?

I use the computer, my camera, and a sketchpad. But I can't listen to music or watch tv or talk to people a lot because of seizures.

Sometimes I can sit outside in a my reclining lawn chair and get sun. I daydream a lot because it can be hard to read or use my hands. Or i watch my dogs play when i can be outside

What do you guys do?

Browse the Internet. It gets old though. Some days I truly feel that I reached the end of the Internet [Wink]

i daydream a lot too and when i am having a light show in my brain or eyes-not sure where-its called a silent migrain...i just sit back and enjoy the show

Paint your toe nails different colors.

Arrange all the family photos and write up info for each.

If you do a search here you should find more discussions with more suggestions.

I know I do that with the floaters in my eyes- when the sun hits them right i can see all the details like i'm looking through a microscope! I just lay there and watch.

Laxmom- i feel the same way- i think i've seriously seen the whole internet

Kam- that's a good idea about window shopping ebay!

i like to look at houses for sale in other countries and pretend i'm rich and well enough to buy one. lol.

Kayak- Yes, seems I may be ok at making suggestions, but do you think I've done mine? Nope! HA!

I've got TWO large old hope chests FULL to the tip top with photos and still haven't started the project.

Like your idea though. Maybe this would be a good winter time project!

As for toe nails you are right about that too! I have to put an old towel on the bed cause I sometimes get cramps in my legs and feet. Then, my legs, with tacky toes attached, jerk unexpectedly. I'm worried the not-quite-dry nail polish will be smeared on the sheets.

And I would NOT be happy if that happened!

[lol]

I look at adventure travel brochures.

Then I imagine travelling to those wonderful sounding places.

And I snuggle with my cats.

Otherwise, if I'm in bed, mostly it's because my head feels like it's in a wringer, so mostly I lie as still as possible and try not to breathe too deeply.

Don't know if you can PLAY music as opposed to listening to prerecorded stuff, but a Ukelele is so easy and fun!

Another idea is to start a crystal collection. They are beautiful, and may just bring healing energy in.

To avoid commercial TV's fast moves & flashes, sudden sounds:

PBS is a true life-saver and companion for me. PBS has enriched my life tremendously. I would be so much more lost without it. Fortunately, we have two PBS stations, with one tending to adults during the daytime when the other tends to children. At night, both offer wonderful choices for adults.

Travel DVDs and international documentaries of culture, cuisine, nature, etc..

Music videos enjoyable to your senses, at this particular time. I find string quartets to be very nice. The smaller groups more predictable than the larger ones.

Acoustic folk music might work, too (avoiding the electronic instruments).

Art instruction DVDs, even if you are not an artist, it might be fun to see how it's done. All kinds of art.

Architecture DVDs. You can travel the world.

You can sign up with your local library for home delivery and pick-up. A person will bring things right to me (they are very close). Very nice. It may different from library to library but at least home mail delivery should be available for anyone who is homebound.

The library also has so many good magazines with pictures. National Geographic is especially nice.

All kinds of picture books for intelligent adults, too. Just choose what captures your attention and there are likely wonderful photo books to pique your interest.

But don't forget humor, too. FAR SIDE CARTOON books can really be a nice companion for odd laughs.

I watch a lot of PBS, too!

It is so good to learn something.

A funny show I love to watch on PBS is Doc Martin.

One of the episodes actually dealt with Lyme.
I believe the episode was called "The Departed".

Thank you, Keebler, for your suggestion of art instruction videos. I have been trying to do water color painting. Although the techniques I saw online were different than the instructor I work with, they were entertaining to watch.

It was a very pleasant way to spend a few hours on a hard day.

Thanks!
