I'm pretty sure Mercola has discussed it. The way he is, he pretty much covers it all sooner or later! [Big Grin]

I know it can cause inflammation. I was using a sugar free coconut milk about a year or so ago and when I found out about the carrageenan, I quit using it. I now make my smoothies with water instead.

There are a few brands without it, but I think they are kinda hard to find. That is why I gave up. I decided I didn't have to have it.

What are you using "milk" for, kayak?

Even tho it can be called natural or organic it gives many people GI distress and stomach issues. There's a movement to have it banned from organic products but thus far I still see it in products.

I personally try not to buy products that have it, even tho it does not bother me. I just don't see why, for example, it needs to be in organic heavy cream. Well I do know the answer but it still makes me angry that it's there.

It's because it's a natural thickener and the manufacturers can extend their product, thereby making it more profitable.

I have yet to find almond milk that does not contain it.

Is there a half and half that doesnt have it?

Breyers ice creme doesnt have it. Maybe i should put ice cream in my coffee instead of half and half

Is carrageenan better or worse for you than sugar

My almond milk doesn't contain carrageenan in it, although the coconut milk does. I mix them.

It is Simply Truth from Ralph's/Kroger store. The problem with this brand is that it contains sugar.

So I'm going to look for others. At least we know that our 'milks' don't have to contain carrageenan. And so much for truth!!!

Really? Breyer's doesn't have it?

Sure, use it for the coffee. Half and half may also be OK.

Ice cream? [Big Grin]

What do I know about it?

That I now take my coffee black (with a few drops of vanilla stevia)

That's all I know. First gave up the crappy Nestle vanilla artificial creamer, then gave up the coconut milk with carrageenan,

and finally it will have to be the coffee itself *sob*

You can find half & half or cream without it. You just have to be diligent and read labels until you find a brand without it.

I have to make my own almond milk. Can find a brand without junk in it.

I'm actually used to my coffee black now (and I'm dairy free)
and I mix in a serving of coconut oil, and just got gelatin that I started to mix in-

But, found out I have gastritis, so..... probably need to give up the coffee altogether. Not there yet tho.
