Got our latest denial of compensation and I told Silver I had had it. So I wrote a letter to the judge deciding the case and told him that they are just playing word games - "Oh it's not neuropathy, you have 'carpal tunnel'." What do you think is the medical term for cts (that's a layman's term they use) - it's MONONEUROPATHY!
"We're sorry Mr. Smith but the stroke in your eye was caused by high blood pressure. What's that? Oh you were under dr.'s care and it was being managed? Oh then the stroke wasn't caused by your diabetes because you hadn't been dx'd with it yet"
So I told the judge that every diagnostic tool used to discover diabetes is done BEFORE the diabetes is dx'd! The VA is saying you can't have diabetes until after it is dx'd but you can't dx diabetes because you haven't had it dx'd? And the call me crazy?!?!?
I told him that they were ignoring the evidence of my tests and medication and the links that I sent them and him from New England Journal of Med. NIH, Amer. Diabetic Assoc. and United Kingdom Medical info.
Hopefully he received my letter yesterday and that he will make a decision in our favor. But the frustration is unrealistic.
When I talk with other vets and they said all they told their dr. was that they had been dx'd with type II diab from herbicide exposure and they were given dx of neuropathy as it was expected.
Arrghhhhh! Where's that doc when I need them?!?!?

Me too...proud of you and in awe
Sometimes i cn get my brain to work long enough to say something credible but usually not at the important times
You said it all so well
I will pray the judge does the right thing and for your strength to keep up the fight
Maybe the time is right with all the news...

You keep going! Very proud!
If no one speaks out, then we are not trying trying to solve the problem.
It shouldn't be this hard, especially for our vets.
Keep up the good work!

Good for you , kind of reminds me of what my wife did 5 or 6 years ago .
She wrote a letter to the editor of local paper about complaining of VA hospital by us about how her brother was treated while being there . How dirty the VA hospital was etc .
It was about all veterans in general .
Well I was clueless about letter till one day I received a phone call from a very mad senator from our state.
Then all hell broke loose , as he was confronting me , at same time I confronted wife about this phone call .
She got on phone and this senator was mad and eventually he hung up.

Good for you TxCoord! Self-advocacy is such a vital self-preservation when navigating any medical or political venue.
Lostlyme: Is it 'dirty' politics or/and physically dirty as well?
It would be interesting if it were a physically dirty environment to have pictures/vidios taken and then sent far and wide on the internet, youtube, newspapers, ect. Blow this part of the va world wide open.
I am so sorry that the folks that fought and served our county are treated so poorly. It's inhuman and heinous neglect. -Edessa

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. It is hard not to be discouraged but Silver and I just keep plugging away.
I have many friends (FB group) that all served together in Thailand during the war who have various illnesses and issues directly related to the herbicide exposure and the gov't keeps denying just compensation.
One of my best friends has a brother who battled for over 10 years with the VA. Went through 3 bankruptcies and other financial issues. He received back pay but as we all know, that doesn't compensate for the loss of income, time, relationships, credit record, etc.
So we will just keep hammering away and praying to find mercy and grace.
