Hi - just watched a half hour show on Lyme on one of our major TV stations, ABC Ch 7 news, featuring writer Amy Tan with her well-known Bay Area doctor Dr S, and a mother and one of her two children with Lyme. I just checked - they don't have it in archives yet but I will be checking.
Phenomenal interview - the anchor reporter asked all the right questions, got good answers, got referrals to good sites -
The anchor mentioned 300,000 new cases a year, and I even heard up to a million new cases a year - not sure if she said it or Dr S did.
Amy Tan related that one of her doctors tested her for syphilis! To me, that's like playing Twister - how far can we contort to avoid the real answer?!
Dr S said the number of new Lyme cases per year is twice the number of new breast cancer cases and six times the number of new AIDS cases. He gave a very clear referral to ILADS which went up on the screen as a url.
As Dr S has been an AIDS doctor, he knows what it took to turn around AIDS such that people are living with it now, and he called for a Manhattan size project to work on the Lyme situation.
The mom and son were very articulate and have a very moving situation going on with the daughter who was still too ill to come and is in need of funds to return to India for more stem cell treatment.

You're right surprise, it's all about the launch of the vaccine and their plans to regulate lyme testing.
If they can regulate the tests, then they can cover their backs, and keep the lies going. The insurance companies will love it, and may just deny all forms of treatment if the FDA's version of their lyme test shows negative.
It's all up in the air, but how is insurance going for everyone now? They are denying more and more things across the board because of profit before patients.
If anyone hasn't voted to change this (regulating lyme tests), run to Activism and sign the darn thing before it's too late. You cannot take this opportunity back.

Kate is amazing - totally dedicated to her kids' health, also a psychotherapist for other families with Lyme.
Just checked with Dr S's office - they are getting a lot of calls and new patients who are recognizing themselves finally!
