- Lisa,
I have extreme vertigo so this is a real joke, an "in my dreams" sort of thing that I sure wish I could do. The video did not make me dizzy at all (just kept my eyes on that lovely pool).
And my imagination lets me pretend I'd be able to do all sorts of aerial escapades. I'd be a wing-suit tomorrow were circumstances aligned in my favor!
I used to do flips and fancy dives (not too well executed, though) off of a diving board (no one had the heart to tell me I could not be on our town's diving team back before they got so polished), so I recall back when that was such fun.
I live a lot on fun from the past. It's valuable.
You might also look at it as when you are up there, it's not high were you would be, it's only high, higher up from where you'd be, eh? -

no, no , no.... .never. I get afraid to fall on an escalator!
my mom said I fell down a flight of steps as a toddler, so I atribute this fear to that early experience. I force myself to look while at the top of roller coasters, but I really hate looking down from anywhere.
I like flying in planes though. and I don't mind being high, just seeing what's down .... there....

- Lisa,
Very often it's not about a person not LIKING heights, movement, etc. but their inner ear &/or parts of the brain are not cooperating. Nothing wrong with that just be sure not to think it's about personality.
Still, if this seems from a tumble in your toddler years, you might find going to just the right therapist (one who also knows all about balance issues) could help you work through this.
Fear can be for various reasons and sometimes, it can be turned around with physical practice. Negotiating an escalator is really a very complex task.
Now, more so with lyme. But when lyme is better for you, a VESTIBULAR THERAPIST may be able to teach you some tricks / skills for managing escalators. They could also help figure out if, maybe, even from birth, something was affecting your inner ear with balance / visual perspective issues.
Still, much has to do with where you look, paying attention to your feet, breath, etc. There are tricks, really. Had I not learned some of those, I would have taken more tumbles than I'd already chaulked up.
Lyme has also greatly changed my ability to do stuff with movement, visual, spacial perceptions, etc. -

- Steve . . . that's fantastic!
Uh . . . at first I envied such a nice high swan dive . . . perfect form. My swan was my best but never that beautiful.
Then . . . oh, dear . . . I see there is no water in that pool!
I landed on the diving board once with my back talking the force and somehow, I survived in pretty good shape, nothing broken (and who even considered soft tissue damage back then? Not my doctors!)
(passed out half way through a back dive of some sort where my height went up but not out - my inner ear really did not like me diving to begin with but I loved soaring through the air and the water even if clumsy)
but I think I would not have survived no water being in the pool. Love photo shop! -

- Steve,
Thanks for the cool blue. Oh, and did you know that even in a very white pool, water will always have a blue tint to it? Even on a cloudy day with zero blue in the sky.
First photo . . . also missing: any kind of diving board or platform. No way to achieve that kind of height without a springboard or from a high platform. And at his place in the sky, looks like he launched from a helicopter !
But my guess is this was a photo shop exercise. They did get the sun angle correct on his body & face, though, so that could extend the prank. Still, fun.
The second one . . . glad she cleared the board. Lovely water. That has to be a high dive there and really fast shutter speed. Perfect timing - she has not even touched the water yet. She has to be still pretty high up not to have her shadow appear on the water.
I really miss being able to be in a swimming pool (sounds galore abound). -

Keebler-- I know what you mean! If I didn't have such trouble with my knees and ankles, I'd be into martial arts, sword fighting, and parkour. I discovered Knights of the Old Republic, a Role Playing Game [video game/computer game], and it was so much fun to "do" those things! RPGs have been awesome for me!

Landing in the pool is far "safer" than landing on a target on the ground...and way more fun!

No sun here but very, very humid. I already took my air conditions out, it's October, what's up with this weather?
My body goes to that dark place in humid weather. I think tomorrow it's going to cool off.
If so, I'll being feeling better - (hope) - and I'll post something much bluer!

Cool! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
I had two relatives that trained for the Olympics, and both specialized in high dives. As a young kid I wanted to do what they did, so I took a dive (jumped at the last minute) into a river from 40 feet up. Nearly drowned doing it, so it was my first and last time!

Glad you are feeling better. Love all those images. They exude health and vitality. Were I able to venture back into the water, I'd probably be a bit more like:

- Oh, Steve . . .
That helps so much. Here I was thinking, had I just TRIED harder (which was just not possible as I tried to my full pathetically capable extent), been born into a different body with a totally different -- and functional -- balance system . . . that I could have been a professional diver.
Maybe not as much fun as it looks, eh? Thanks for the chuckle. Still, all precision aside, it is (was) tremendous fun to go soaring through the air and the zooming through the water, in my own special style. -
