Hi, I just wanted to post an update since everyone on here has been so kind ansering my questions and giving advice. I finished my 3 weeks of treatment Which was 2 weeks Doxy (had a bad reaction) 1 week amoxicillin I still have a light rash that started with the Doxy, But I have seen a dermatologist and had a biopsy. I've seen my acupuncture about 4 times through all this and he is it is a great resource. I am starting to feel my old self again. I found a local support group and will be heading to their next meeting. I joined Lyme disease association website. I made an appointment with a LLMD.
Through the last few months I have had many blox/X-ray/mri/scans that all seem to put me in good health aside from Lyme. If anyone has any other input/suggestions/advice Please send it my way.

- Hope you do feel better. Be very wise with all you do right now, of course. Don't tip the scales.
When is your appointment with a LLMD? Be sure to get on their list in case of a cancellation.
Is your acupuncturist lyme literate? If so, are they suggesting and specific "direct" herbs for you during this time (they really should). I'm not talking support herbs here, though they are nice, I'm talking about very specific "direct" herbs, so to speak.
What lab is doing the skin biopsy? Hopefully, it got sent to Igenex. Most labs will not do a proper test even on an EM. -

You posted this on 11 May - about a month ago. Excellent information in the replies here. Good to review before your LLMD appointment. Hope that is soon.

- Brrrrk. Little slow on the go here and may have assumed the skin biopsy was being tested for lyme (however, with your previous positive lyme test, no other test is needed).
So, are they testing that skin sample for other kinds of conditions? -

My appointment is the 2nd week of July. I asked for a cancellation spot but she said the new patient in an hour appt. they only do cancelations for currents patients.
My skin biopsy was for a different rash(red blotches on back/torso/legs/arms) that seemed to present itself about a week into taking the DOxy.
My accupunturist does not do herbs. So I would need to seek out someone who does.
I was in denial about actually having Lyme, since I live in the city and rarely find myself in wooded areas. Now I can just be thankyou that the EM rash was present because I know that Lyme would not of been though of (atleast by me)

- That rash on your back could be lyme. I had satellite rashes from doxycycline. No doubt at all, it was lyme "coming out" so to speak as they were bulls eyes. But lyme rashes can appear in a variety of ways.
While you don't need proof of lyme - you already have that,
but since they have that skin sample in the testing lab -- and even though they may not be adequate in this -- you might ask if they would assess the sample for lyme but also for bartonella or other infections.
You don't need to prove lyme but if it happens to show up, it might help educate them. Just know that it could be easily missed, even if in the skin.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever? Hopefully, others can add to this.
Be sure to put antimicrobial ointment on the place they took the skin sample - not any kind of steroid cream. Avoid any kind of steroids, even topical.
Lyme Disease; Comprehensive overview covers symptoms, treatment, diagnosis and prevention of this tick-borne illness.
. . . rashes can mimic spider bite, ringworm, or cellulitis. Multiple, so-called “satellite” rashes may appear on different parts of the body. . . .
Judie posted this Feb. 2015:
"Mine was a raised, round blob, not like a bullseye at all. This article may be helpful. It describes EM rashes." (end Judie quote)

FUNGAL infections might also be considered for that rash / biopsy sample. Hope they are looking very thoroughly. -
