Is anyone else wondering about hundreds of law enforcement folks going through all that vegetation and with their dogs?
The articles I saw mentioned that federal agencies such as the FBI, US marshalls, and US Customs and Border Protection have joined the Dept of Corrections and Forest Rangers in looking for the two escapees.
Has anyone ever clued these agencies in to the issue of infected ticks?
You know, whenever we have an Amber Alert here, I usually make a call to that county's sheriff's office and explain the tick problem, because all these volunteers are going through brush looking for the missing child.
I would think that some of these folks are going to get bitten. So I'm wondering whether anyone in NY/on the East Coast etc is contacting any of these agencies to let them know, or does anyone know whether they do have any awareness and are wearing permethrin-impregnated clothing, or what?

Nowadays, I have a totally different outlook on forests, wooded areas, etc., and don't go into them. All I think of is how many ticks are in them and what devastation and irreparable damage they can cause!! Our son and family have suffered terribly because of Lyme.

im so selfish. all i can think of is where are they, why havent they caught them....im watching all those ppl siearching...AND the DOGS!!!
it didnt enter my mind this time...it does so often...seeing kids in leaves or on a blanket in a park
ny is aware...the hudson valley is directly west of lyme ct and wesaw the ticks move from east to west back in the day
there are many support groups and there were signs in parks when i was there
someone should make a call...its awful they could be infected as bad as the first responders to 9/11 all getting sick and having to fight for medical care

I thought of that, too. Maybe, the escapees will get bitten. Law enforcement probably know how to protect themselves with deet.
