blessmegod - sorry to say this and I am not a doctor, of course, but I think the Bart tests are highly unreliable because there many different species of Bart - the tests can only detect two of them, I think
Dr.B called the others BLO, I think, for Bartonella Like Organisms
I was tested for Bartonella henselae and one other one and was negative for both of those, but my LLMD said he could tell I had Bart when I came through the door - treated me for it and I got better
I don't think all Bart species show up on the tests, only the ones that are well known - so a negative test, once again, does not mean very much because the research was not done to learn more about the others and devise a test to detect them, from what I understand
I was treated with abx (which may be essential to get rid of it), and this may not help your son, but one supplement that helped my with symptoms was Inositol Powder (12-18 g per day)
I thought - pah, this does nothing and let it run out, and OMG did I have an episode 2-3 days later - back on the Inositol and well again - stopped it or got lazy taking it and symptoms returned
it may be just me - I may need it in the brain and my body may be unable to make it - normal people make it in their bodies - it also naturally occurs in fruit, especially cantaloupe and oranges but I would have to eat 9 cantaloupes a day to get 12 g of inositol - like I said, if I were healthy, my body would make what is needed but seems unable to do so with Lyme/Bart infections
you can google Inositol and OCD behavior and it will come up with studies, I think
it also affected my fear and rage
it is not expensive, easy to get (I get the powder not the caps because I need the higher doses), tastes good, and supposed to be harmless - may be worth a try
