My son was diagnosed with Lyme this summer. Along with all the school work, he plays high school basketball (6 day a week practices plus games).
He is allergic to nuts and seeds and beans. Most gluten free chips and crackers are made with these. I have found quinoa chips but they are like $4 for a small bag and he doesnt like them that much.
He is gluten free but that doesn't prevent the corn tortilla chips etc.
The poor kid is hungry and active. All recipes seem to contain almond flour. All other gluten free flours seem high in carbs. He is taking probiotics and sacc.
I just don't want him to end up with a life long battle with yeast.
Any ideas as to what to feed him?

- One thing that stands out is the basketball, as it's aerobic exercise and - usually - that can be much too harsh for the heart & adrenals - and brain - for those with lyme.
However, if his LLMD who knows him says it's okay, that's okay. Just be sure to get the LLMD's okay.
Rather than chips, to help veggies and meats really stay with us longer, What about these items, all of which are excellent regarding the glycemic index:

He eats quinoa. Not thrilled about the wild rice. He has had to break out of his picky eating mode with this new diet but he hasn't had the total change in eating habits he needs. He ate so many carbs before this I was starting to wonder if he had a candida issue. This new way of life has been really hard.
He eats a lot of protein and at least one portion of veggies a day. He refuses to take them to school.
It is just so sad. He loves to bake, especially bread type items. Can't do that anymore.
I will check out the cookbook. He does like soup so that would be something different for dinner. Maybe I can get him interested in cooking some of those.
The buckwheat groats sound interesting. I will order some. He has been eating buckwheat muffins for the last 4 months and I think he is finally sick of them.
Yes basketball is rough. His LLMD is ok with him playing. He has been preparing for high school basketball since 6th grade. I feel so bad for him. He lost some bball opportunities because of lyme related issues.
He has had weird health problems for a while. Finally when a knee wouldn't get better the lyme test finally came back with one band positive. However it wasnt the band that is unique to lyme.
LLMD was willing to treat to see what happened because of all his other issues and he herxed badly.
Good news. His asthma is gone. His short-term memory back and he is back to straight As. Long term memory he still has issues. Unfortunately he developed POTS this fall, after starting treatment, but that is being managed. Knees still bad too.
Question about candida prevention. Does the candida become resistant to OLE? If I were to start him on it as a preventative measure could it lose its effectiveness?

Check out predominatelypaleo.com. They have main meals, snacks, etc. The brand, "Enjoy Life," is free from the 8 most common allergens, but can be expensive. Maybe look on Amazon?? Best wishes.

God Bless that he is able to attend school and play basketball!!! That is awesome!
There is plenty for him to eat with those allergies! And IMO, focus more on the food and less on the candida...
Eggs done every way, egg salad, chicken salad, chicken cooked with veggies, roasted chicken, chicken soup w rice, chicken cutlets, chicken parm, GF pasta, stuffed peppers, sloppy joes, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, green salads, broccoli, string beans, tuna salad, shrimp cocktail, shrimp scampi, rice and beans, ham steak, pulled pork, pork chops, baked fish, yogurt, string cheese, ...the list goes on.
