That's a really big flake, Steve - is it a new flake species?
Ok - I just checked - it's known as a pentatonic Crystal Azuricus Gargantua. Found in very cold weather. If discovered, admire it before sun comes out.

Steve,,, "HERE" we call that 'hoar frost', Dont ask me how it got its name
But it sure is pretty and endless on those special mornings.
Nuttin pretty on the 6-12 inches we have had on the ground for over a month.
Just keeps the air temp down 10-15 degrees. Just like an old time ice box (before compressors and electricity) for you youngens.

we got about 3 feet of undrifted snow, and there was a lot of drifting, so some parts were pretty high. it came down really fast.
I made a slide out of it when we shoveled. it was so fun. glad it came down powdery. it didnt stick to too many trees so that was good. no power loss. my son finally went back to school today!

Great picture. Looks like a lot of shoveling!
My back HURTS from all the shoveling and I am so tired. Even so, I was pretty proud of myself for all of the work I was able to do out there.
