Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone on LymeNet works for the federal government and has insurance through them.

My spouse changed jobs and we are switching insurance, I'm really confused with the different options/ what would be best for coverage right now.

Please PM me if you don't feel comfortable replying in this thread. Thank you all so much!

I have Federal Blue Cross/Blue Shield, standard option.

Many doctors' offices have said that this is the best insurance there is. I have had it for years and years. I can go to any doctor I want any time. I get any tests any time. I can get the same test over and over in a short period of time. None of it is ever questioned. They pay based on the plan brochure.

They never denied coverage for any of my lyme treatment. When I went to doctors who did not take insurance, they gave me some reimbursement once I filed a claim myself. That included Igenex testing, lyme doctors, and other types of doctors.

Same for prescriptions. Some meds require the doctor to file some paperwork. After he does that, it is paid for according to the plan brochure. I have never been denied payment for any prescription.

I will keep this insurance for the rest of my life because I consider it so good.

Wow, TF, that is unreal! You are very lucky! Insurance is the bane of my existence. Although, I shouldn't say that; I wouldn't have made it this far without it. I've inadvertently been one expensive kid for insurance.

Thank you so much for your response, TF!

I'm not CDC positive for LD, but my current insurance has been willing to cover some of my medical related stuff right now. We were told that federal medical insurance is way better, that we should switch.

As far as I heard blue shield is one of the best insurance you can get for free. My cousin works in the police, and he has this insurance. Well, he said that besides the fact that his entire family is insured with this insurance for free, he, or anyone from his family can visit a doctor anytime, and they won’t pay anything for that. There are also other private companies that offer good insurance, but you’ll have to pay for them a lot of money.

We have had Blue Cross/ Blue Shield for close to 40 years. For quite a few years, our coverage lost a little every year, and we would look around but never found anything better.

It's still the best we've found, but we got spoiled in the 1980s when everything pretty much was covered 100%
