I didn't have my niece's address so I sent a check, made out to her name, to my sister's house.

my other sister told me SHE gave the neice 250 dollars. I said why are you involved. I sent her check to blahblah....

you absolutely are freaking not going to believe it.

my sister opened the christmas card addressed to my niece. my sisters said she lost the check. so the one sister gave her the money. why did she open the card made out to my niece in the first place?

NOW my other sister let the cat out of the bag. my sister took the check and deposited it in her account.

first, how the hell did she do this and why would a bank accept an out of state check made out to somebody else?

I'm devastated. I can't believe she would do this.

so from now on, all money goes to each individual. no buy her this, chip in, etc. period.

I'm speechless. I mean when you can't even trust your own family....geeezzz

Or she could have written "payable to ____" and signed her daughter's name, and then signed her name. If so, that is REALLY dirty pool!! Anyway you look at it, it's horrible.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. Awful. Terrible for you, and terrible for your niece. Whew! That pretty much takes the cake.
