Thank You! My son was in a hospital where they gave him Gentomycin for the tiniest rash, so I KNEW they were dealing with some kind of nosocomial infection (hospital-spread). The state of MO has no laws that dictate disclosure of hospital infection outbreaks.
I was at his bedside for 4 days, and then...Three days after he was discharged, I developed this lump on my back. Within hours, my whole body began to react.
The Poplar Bluff (very POSH and profitable) hospital 1) Gave me a Nurse Practitonor instead of a doctor...what "NEW law" has allowed THIS? 2) Tried to waste my time and force me to leave, knowing I would have to return and pay for another ER visit when I was worse, and possibly permanently damaged.
We had to make calls and pull strings, but we shouldn't have had to.
I happen to be a nurse, so I knew what was happening to my body, and what would happen if the infection moved even an inch, into my spine. My mom (also a nurse) was alarmed & drove me an hour & a half. We both knew I was in early stage SEPSIS, and the ER staff tried to send me home.
Had a swollen lump the size of a tennis ball on my back, full-body blotchy rash, and my feet were turning PURPLE. I pressed my thumb onto the top of my foot, and saw WHITE where the venous return was poor, AT the ER! I knew the blood was turning away from my feet due to the infection in my back.
This is the result of for-profit medical care.
All of the incentives are perversely opposite to actual provision of medical care. Since all other developed countries have it, this means there is enough money flowing from people working in a profitable economy (for investors, and no one else) that there are Trillions to be made.
BUT, what you are doing right now is Awesome! <3 Thank you for sharing this. Knowing what we need, and demanding it, can save your life. We did it, too. Let's keep telling loved ones until everyone knows.
