Suicide has been in the headlines nearly everyday.

I’ve had to endure the loss of an immediate family member due to suicide. Let me tell you, I miss them all the time & the pain does NOT get any better.

Friends, you are the only you in the world. We truly cannot replace you.

Your life is more valuable than all of the worlds riches put together.

Your life is priceless!

Know that I’m not the only one here that cares. So stick around with us.

(I’d like this thread to be a source of encouragement. So it’d be great if you all could add some kind words for those in need of hope. Thanks friends!)

Very kind of you. People considering suicide want to end their own pain and may not be considering the pain they will cause others who care about them.

I always say, try to get the pain load down, whatever you can do.

One of my friends has an adult daughter who faces suicide all the time. She is severely depressed and they have tried "everything."

Her uncle (in his 50's) committed suicide last year.

I found this great article on suicide today:

Hi there,

Far to many have been touched by suicide of loved ones and friends, myself and TrekC' included.

Sadly we've had three suicides and I am not sure the sadness over this will ever be gone, at least here on earth.

I have been thinking a lot about this and other problems , to do with mental health. And I try to be watchful of what I say to others. People who are hurting, can be very vulnerable. And words can have a negative effect.

Trying to learn the art of encouragement,and many here have helped as encourage-rs.I appreciate our LymeNet, sometimes so many have no where else to turn.

It is so true that "words can have a negative effect".

When people say to think about family and friends who will miss us, I think maybe they do not understand that we may have lost them all due to the length and depth of this illness and that may be the main reason we want to check out.

Most of us can endure almost anything if we have solid, loving support, when it is all gone, there is no reason anymore.

Just my 2 cents as a severely depressed person with Lyme for 33 yrs.

Here is a short video (3 minutes) from Dr Robert Bransfield, Psychiatrist on Suicide and Lyme Disease ;

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=hyHgVl0dBQg

High Risk correlations of suicide and Lyme factors include ;

1. Outdoor workers
2. Veterans
3. Being in a pro-inflammatory state (pain)
4. Changes in Neuro circulatory functions

He estimates over 1200 Lyme suicide deaths per year involving either the active, chronic, or post immune states.

Please seek help if you feel overwhelmed.
Lymenet is ALWAYS open for those who are struggling and need words of encouragement. You are WORTH it !!!
