OMG, what horrible news! I haven't been here in years, just now returned & to hear this. It seems impossible somehow.
The first time I went to my LLMD (many states away) I asked him how to go about becoming active in this new Lyme community I had, like all of us, joined so unwillingly. I was brand new to actually being accurately diagnosed & treated for Lyme, but already an old hand at being dismissed, ignored, and even threatened by Lyme ignorant doctors & others. So I asked him - how could I help fight back? And he said- go find Tin Cup. She's sometimes on an online forum called Lymenet.
So I did. I was fortunate enough to have joined forces with her on many occasions and to have witnessed her in battle. She was indomitable, a force to be reckoned with, a fierce warrior for those of us with Lyme & the doctors brave enough to treat us. She fought tirelessly year after year after year, even when there was little visible progress to show for it and even when she was herself exhausted and unwell.
Perhaps one of my best memories of her though was a time when I saw her but she didn't see me. She was driving down a road out on the Eastern Shore- very slowly, of course- with the windows of her truck fully rolled down, her hair whipping around her. And she was singing at the top of her lungs, drumming on her steering wheel, swaying back and forth, seemingly completely & happily lost in her own rocking TinCup world, free for that time at least of the huge burden she took on as her own.
How she really be gone?
