Welcome to the exercise thread! Let's close out 2025 strong and start 2026 motivated to move!
We count almost anything as exercise--walking, PT, cleaning, shopping, baking etc. We've even been known to count gabbing on the phone. If it benefits you, that is what matters.
So, tell us about your exercise or just tell us about your day.

I woke up to the sound of two mouse traps snapping.
Disposed of the mice in the field next to my lot, although I had to finish one off first. Rebaited the traps and reset them.
Ran a load of laundry.
Went to Dollar General to get some ibuprofen. Naproxen (Aleve) is a bit toxic for me. I have never tried ibuprofen but like the idea that I do not have to take it as often as aspirin. Still working on the inflamed shoulder.
Sadly, I also came away with a sugar caffeine filled mocha frappucino, as well.
Watched my local church service online.
Called my mom.
Took a 20 minute power nap after lunch.
Then worked puzzles and read. Put on some CD's of oldies such as Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, and Dan Fogleberg.
Temps got up to 65* today and we had a stormy afternoon. Under a wind advisory with 50 mph gusts for another 24 hours. Temps will sink to 14* tonight and not get much about 20* tomorrow. Roller coaster winter.
Having Italian sausage, yellow squash and a lettuce salad for dinner.
Then watching the Bears football game and reading.

Had leftover Chinese food for lunch and cheeseball and crackers for dinner. Think the Chinese food was a bit greasy because I noticed pain in the side after lunch.
Also tweaked my bad wrist in the shower.
Going for a nuclear scan in the morning checking my liver, gallbladder, etc.
I'm a tad bit nervous about the scan but will do the best I can.
See you all tomorrow!

Woke up at 4 AM due to the snap of a mouse trap. Mouse was in the trap but hadn't died and was bouncing the trap across the kitchen. Due to the extreme wind and cold I just threw the mouse outside and then rebaited the trap.
Yesterday it was 65*. Today the high was 20*. High wind warning just expired.
I did my knee and feet exercises, plus the shoulder pulley exercises.
Rode the exercise bike for 25 minutes.
Dragged a large limb from my neighbor's tree back into their yard. Couldn't get it all the way to their brush pile as it was so heavy.
Very toxic today. Had an energy healing the other day and she is still trying to kill EBV and get it back to being nonactive.
Took a nap after lunch.
Then sat and read while watching Illini basketball on mute.
Called my mom. Then talked with a sweet friend for quite a while.
Took the garbage bin and recycling bin to the curb.
Leftovers for dinner.
Then watching a recorded show and starting a new novel.

61* early morning. 47* around 7, and by 9 it was 36*. Currently 24* at 7:30 pm.
We had rain, snow, sun, clouds and windy / breezy today. Snow was just flurries. And its not really windy here at our house, but you can hear it roaring in the trees on the mountain.
It is breezy and the wind is coming from the north. Which means our bedroom is going to be cold, since its on the north side of the house.
Today only baked a small amount of bread as it never sells real well just after a holiday - people are still eating leftovers and New Years day is just ahead.
Did laundry, was keeping after getting it folded soon after it came out of the dryer. Until the electricity went off for a couple hours. Typical on very windy days in the mountains.
Thankfully my baking was finished, but I had to slicethe bread with a knife instead of the electric knife. So exercised my arm!
Had company over the weekend. Two nephews and then our daughter & her Hubby. The last ones left this morning. Had an enjoyable weekend, and was over too soon.
The nephews helped get the first rafters on the shop completed.
The doctor called to say she was changing my meds for the 3rd time. But when I saw the list of side effects of Cipro, I opted not to take it. The rash was impoving much more on the second med than it had on the first.
Since it was still improving I thought the risks of the new med outweigh the good the other was doing.
Supper was leftovers, mashed potatoes, peas, hamburger bbq, red beet eggs and cinnamon rolls for dessert.

My doctor called me yesterday to tell me my gallbladder is barely functioning which explains the bloating, gas, constipation and pain I've had since July.
I'm just waiting to hear when my surgery will be for the removal of my gallbladder.
During and after the test I had the worst case of vertigo I ever experienced in my life.
Talked with a good friend and going to check and make sure it's not BPPV since I'll have to lay flat for the surgery.
I want to thank you all for the prayers and the comforting words.
See everyone tomorrow!

Then did my balance and full complement of shoulder exercises.
Also rode the exercise bike 20 minutes.
Called mom.
Went to the credit union.
Then went to the chiropractor and she released more toxins.
Got home and my carbon monoxide detector was beeping. Fortunately it was the beep that signals the end of its life rather than a carbon monoxide leak. So went to ACE Hardware and bought a new one.
I am having an Amy's gluten free burrito for dinner with a lettuce salad.
Then plan to watch the Illini football team play Tennessee in the Music Bowl. Stopped by the store on the way home from the chiropractor and got some tortilla chips for the game.

COLD today! 22* when I got up and we had a dusting of snow today. Lazy flakes off and on. Calling for an inch of snow tomorrow. Its 18* now at 9:30 pm
Did some emailing back n forth with a friend trying to help trouble shoot the problems with her vehicles brakes. My Hubby was an auto mechanic and was the one doing the diagnosing.
Reached out to an aquaintance near her house who was willing to go see if they could help.
Got all my quilt patches cut and marked for my curtains. Started sewing the patches together. Hopefully I can get them all together tomorrow.
The rash is looking much much better. Skin is still quite pink, but is nice and smooth. Not nearly so itchy anymore. Just a couple more days of taking meds.
Had Sonny bring the bag of ground beef in to defost. Want to make a big batch of meatballs for the day the men come to set the rafters on the shop. It will be easy to just pull the baked meatballs out of the freezer & reheat them.
AK, hope you can get your surgery and are soon feeling better.
I'm STILL waiting on the postage stamps I ordered the 13th of Dec to mail my Christmas cards. I tried calling and just got the run around by a computer. Thinking I should just cancel the order and have someone stop by the post office n just pick up a roll of stamps. I wanted pretty Christmasy ones....

I stayed up too late last night watching the Illini bowl game (they won in the last 3 seconds).
So, got a late start this morning.
Did my bike warmup and my knee and feet exercises.
Then rode the exercise bike for an additional 20 minutes.
Filled the safflower feeder.
Tried to nap but gave up after 20 minutes.
Called my mom.
Went and grabbed a coffee and then worked on my medical expenses sheet. Not sure I have enough to deduct on my taxes this year, but thought I would get it all in order.
Read and grounded while listening to Carly Simon.
I am having a tossed salad topped with broccoli, carrots and blackberries.
Later I will have my appetizers--shrimp, nuts, cheese, and dates along with a glass of champagne.
Just reading and maybe watching a movie tonight. The New Year's Eve ball drops at 10 PM at my house.

I did alot today! Removed the Christmas lights and wreaths on the front porch. Had to use a step stool. Packed up all the interior Christmas things and put everything in the shed.
Did 2 loads of laundry, vacuumed a bit and worked on bills for January.
Side is hurting a bit more but still wanted to get things done.
Gabbed on the phone with a couple of friends and one is taking me on the 12th for the endoscopy. Thank God!
I'm seeing the surgeon on the 16th which seems way to long to wait. Not sure when the surgery will be.
I had oatmeal and potatoes again today.
Tomorrow Josh and I are planning to go to a Chinese buffet to celebrate New Year's.
They have a salad bar and fruits that I'll be able to eat.
See everyone next year!

Cold again today with more snow. More snow to come overnight. We don't have alot on the ground yet, though the grass it starting to be covered.
Have the second set of baked beans in the canners. Decided to do some canning to warm up the house and add some moisture to the air. Had to peel and dice one pumpkin to fill enough jars to completely fill the last canner.
Baked 4 pans of meatballs.
Filled the bird feeders.
Let all the animals n birds penned up in the barns today. Too cold n snowy for them to spend much time outside anyway.
Heard a rustling noise in the barn and saw a tail in the empty grain bag I was using for a trash bag. An oppossum was hiding in there. I picked up th bag n shook it, hoping he'd play dead. But when I dumped him out, outside the barn, he scurried away around the corner of the barn.
Supper was meatballs, mashed potatoes n gravy, and leftover mixed vegetables.
Want to mix up my sourdough bread, fold 2 baskets of clean laundry and fill the dishwasher. If the canners aren't done yet, I'll go sew a little while.
Happy New Year, everybody!

I didn't intend to stay up late last night, but as I was getting the last of my saran wrap out of the kitchen drawer I found that mice had stored more birdseed in the box. When I grabbed the box the seed flew everywhere.
So, just before midnight I am vacuuming the kitchen floor and cleaning out the drawer.
This morning I did my balance and shoulder exercises and rode the exercise back for 20 minutes.
Called my mom.
Ran 2 loads of laundry. Washed the flannel sheets and remade the bed. Washed my Christmas sweatshirts and put them away. Still have my Xmas decorations up, though.
Cleaned the bathroom.
Raked the leaves out of the storm drain and a few more leaves that had blown into the yard. Put them at the curb's edge. Glad I did as the leaf vacuum truck came by soon after.
Watched the Rose Parade (recorded it) as I grounded this afternoon. Read a little bit.
I am watching the Rose Bowl now. Rooting for Indiana.
I am making chicken salad for dinner and then maybe a little TV and reading.

Cold and snowy at our house. Slept later than usual and got a leter start on baking bread. Only did about half the amount as usual so it wasn't as busy of a day.
Got most of the laundry washed and dried. Most of it is still waiting to be folded.
Gabbed on the phone with a friend after Hubby told her what needs to be done to 'bleed the brakes' on her vehicle. She & her young son changed the brakes and something wasn't quite right.
Her Hubby is sick and needs a partial liver transplant. You can keep him in your prayers, please.
The boys were home today. One cleared the walk & steps, and a path to the barns and the cold cellar.
Later afternoon they went over to a friend from church to ty out the snowboard.
Oldest son opened cans of chicken noodle soup for supper. Also had fresh homemade bread. Dessert fresh citrus. I had 1 mandarin orange and half a grapefruit.
There is a chicken outside of the pen. She's been out for several days apparently. But she's hiding good and I only see her running underneath the chicken house. I left the door propped open for awhil hoping she would go inside the little entry. No luck tonight.

Happy New Year friends! I hope and pray we all have a blessed year.
Thank you all for the prayers and advice about my upcoming gallbladder surgery.
Josh came by and cleaned the lint trap of the dryer. From there we went to the Chinese buffet. I had quite a bit of sushi but nothing raw or fattening and fruits and jello for dessert.
We both had such a good quiet New Year.
My neighbor called me after midnight panicking that someone was banging all around her house to break in. It took alot of patience to explain it was fireworks and that she was OK. I even offered to go to her house. Her hearing is going and she might have early dementia.
She's OK today and I might pop over tomorrow for a visit.
Well...it's late so I better hit the hay. Good night friends!

Was awakened early again by the sound of a mouse trap snapping. Had to get up, get shoes and coat and gloves on and take the struggling mouse outside.
Got out the steel wool and wedged myself in the cabinet below the kitchen sink to plug some small holes around the pipes. Bet the mice are in the walls and hope they don't chew the electrical wires.
Walked around the house again but everything seems well caulked.
Went to the bank to stop payment on a check that never reached its destination via USPS.
Also stopped at chiropractor to get a supplement.
Called mom. She called me again later to complain she had no scissors to cut open her pieces of chocolate. When she had her stroke we didn't want scissors in her hands as she was not in her right mind.
Did my knee and feet exercises and rode the exercise bike for 30 minutes.
Read and grounded.
Chatted with my bff for a long time.
I am having chili for dinner with a lettuce salad.
Then trying to finish up a novel that is due tomorrow at the library.

Still didn't get my stamps. I'll get one of the boys to stop at the post office and get some tomorrow when they go to the bank.
My Christmas cards are going to be very late.
Our grocery order was dropped off on time. Nice young man. Glad it wasn't an older person who had to carry a big bag of dog food and cat food up all the steps.
Peeled the last of the potatoes the neighbor got for us. They weren't keeping very well. Too many were trying to spoil.
Folded all the clean laundry and put it away.
Tried to take a nap, but got a phone call two times, so gave up.
Will try to get the bed early tonight. I'm tired.
Supper was mashed potatoes, gravy, sausage & hot dogs, green beans, sauekraut. Had our New Years meal today.
Hope you are soon feeling better, AK.
