I like any song by Queen. When I'm down & I hear one I just crank it up for abit of a pic me up.

A song that I identify with now a days is Hotel California because it has the phrase tiffany twisted in it (my brain).

I'm not sure about identifying with, but i love any bruce Springsteen song - pulls me out of the 'dumps' any time.

Theres' a song by Jimmy Buffet too - has a line something like 'I'd rather die while i'm living than live while i die' I just love that - he is inspiring to me.

Might be odd to some but their music is what i listen to when i need my spirits lifted.

Insane in the membrane
Insane in the brain!
Insane in the membrane
Insane in the brain!
Cyprus Hill

" I think you're already leaving, I think you're already gone"
Matchbox 20

and of course
"You gotta be strong, you gotta be bad?, you gotta work harder"
- not sure who sings that, I mean I AM, but I forget

And lastly
"bring on the rain" BUT, I have replaced those lyrics with
"Bring on the weight"

Hey,

I think that song that Crime quoted (you gotta be...) is by Desree.

I'm inspired by a lot of songs but I love the one that the quote from my signature is from. It's "Nothing Yet" by Tracy Chapman.

I also like "Unwell" by Matchbox 20. "I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell. I know, right now you can't tell. But stay a while and maybe then you'll see a different side of me. I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired. I know, right now you don't care. But soon enough you're gonna think of me and how I used to be." I actually know how to sign that song in ASL 'cause we're doing it in my sign choir at school.

--Annie

"I'd run away
But there is nowhere to go
So I'll stand and fight
And hope and pray
That the best is yet to come
And we ain't seen nothing yet."

Jimmy Buffet songs just seem to apply here. "If we weren't all crazy,
We would be insane."

A Lot of 'Queen' & Bob Marley.

A Lot of Robby Robertson songs. (Coyote Dance esp.)

A Whole Bunch of Zachary Richard, when I'm feeling good, but & it's cold outside.

The righteous brothers come to mind. 'Like you've lost that loving feeling'.

But the one song I can really feel now is that old one that says something about-
When I died it started the whole world living. Can anybody help with title, singer or lyrics??? --just don--

just Don - do you mean this song?

I Started A Joke by The Bee Gees

I started a joke, which started the whole world crying,
but I didn't see that the joke was on me, oh no.

I started to cry, which started the whole world laughing,
oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me.

I looked at the skies, running my hands over my eyes,
and I fell out of bed, hurting my head from things that I'd said.

Til I finally died, which started the whole world living,

oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me.

I looked at the skies, running my hands over my eyes,
and I fell out of bed, hurting my head from things that I'd said.

'Til I finally died, which started the whole world living,
oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was one me.

Sheree Austin, "streets of heaven"

female vocalist, country,

Lyrics:

Hello God, it's me again. 2:00 a.m., Room 304.
Visiting hours are over, time for our bedside tug of war.
This sleeping child between us may not make it through the night.
I'm fighting back the tears as she fights for her life.
Well, it must be kind of crowded,
On the streets of Heaven.
So tell me: what do you need her for?
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever.
But right now I need her so much more.
She's much too young to be on her own:
Barely just turned seven.
So who will hold her hand when she crosses the streets of Heaven?

Tell me God, do you remember the wishes that she made,
As she blew out the candles on her last birthday cake?
She wants to ride a pony when she'd big enough.
She wants to marry her Daddy when she's all grown up.

Lord, don't you know she's my angel
You got plenty of your own
And I know you hold a place for her
But she's already got a home
Well I don't know if you're listenin'
But praying is all that's left to do
So I ask you Lord have mercy, you lost a son once too

And it must be kind of crowded,
On the streets of Heaven.
So tell me: what do you need her for?
Don't you know one day she'll be your little girl forever.
But right now I need her so much more.
Lord, I know once you've made up your mind,
There's no use in beggin'.
So if you take her with you today, will you make sure she looks both ways,
And would you hold her hand when she crosses the streets of Heaven.

Anything by Yanni or Enya.....

My favorite is Yanni's "Almost a Whisper"

The sound of holding on - almost a whisper
The sigh of broken hearts - a quiet cry
The rain upon your face
Brings gravity and grace
And softly you begin to breath again

I don't have all the answers to your sad prayers
But if I could I'd give you angel's wings
To go where hope is found
With strength to reach beyond
And carries like a song upon the wind

Please don't give up
Please don't you give up
Cuz I believe
Yes, I believe
I still believe... in us

The sound of holding on - almost a whisper
The sigh of broken hearts - a quiet cry
The rain upon your face
Brings gravity and grace
And softly you begin to breath again

Josh Groban without a doubt...especially, "You're Still You" and
"To Where You Are"

I listen to his songs constantly...he has a phenomenal voice...and is relaxing.

Unfortunately, he only has 2 CDs out. Sigh.

Nice topic... thanks!

The song...

WE NEED MORE FRUITCAKES IN THIS WORLD!

Mr. Jimmy Buffet of course... he has kept me going for years!

But.. right now...

The song that makes me git up and go is... and it makes me think of the Lyme Disease Controversy and how we MUST do something about it...

"Whiskey for my men... beer for my horses".

Yeh I do like Crazy Little Thing Called Love from Queen. I'm not sure how how to re-write that one. Is Crazy Little Thing Called Lyme to obvious.

Though recently I've had in mind a song off their last album which probably no one has heard of called Innuendo made when Freddy Mercury was dying from AIDS. Its a song called I'm going Slightly Mad.(obvious reasons to identify with)

please check out my friend Tara Angell's cd "Come Down" , it is available on www.cdbaby.com and is an excellent cd, i love all the songs on it. she is very sick with lyme and as you listen to the lyrics of these songs , it will be obvious. she has a new cd coming out on rycodisk in august and does shows in NYC. check out her website: taraangell.com. really sweet girl. she is also an artist and a documentary film maker. she was planning on doing a documentary film exposing the lyme controversy, but right now has to concentrate on getting well.

if anyone wants to email me, my email address is [email protected] don't email my hotmail address as i may not get the email, it is filled to capasity.

Good topic! I'm really into music and love all kinds, but there are a few I do seem to identify with more these days. The lyrics to these 2 songs I can especially relate to:

~ 3 Doors Down - Away From the Sun

It's down to this
I've got to make this life make sense
Can anyone tell what I've done
I miss the life
I miss the colors of the world
Can anyone tell where I am

I'm over this
I'm tired of livin' in the dark
Can anyone see me down here
The feeling's gone
There's nothing left to lift me up
Back into the world I know

And now again I've found myself so far down
Away from the sun that shines into the darkest place
I'm so far down away from the sun
That shines to light the way for me to find my way back into the arms
That care about the ones like me
I'm so far down away from the sun again

And:

~ Hoobastank - Crawling In The Dark

I will dedicate and sacrifice my everything
for just a seconds worth of how my story's ending
I wish I could know if the directions that I take
all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing

Help me carry on
Assure me it's ok to
use my heart and not my eyes
to navigate the darkness
Will the ending be ever coming suddenly?
Will I ever get to see the ending to my story?

Show me what it's for
Make me understand it
I've been crawling in the dark
looking for the answer
Is there something more
than what I've been handed?
I've been crawling in the dark
looking for the answer

--- For a pick-me-up, anything by Bon Jovi will usually suffice! LOL! I also like anything by Evanescence, Garbage, Linkin Park, Live, Nickelback, and The Goo Goo Dolls.

Hi Everyone!

"I Hope you Dance" by Lee Ann Womack has helped me through some tough days.
http://www.wtv-zone.com/limeylady/pat/udance.html

Lee Ann Womack
I Hope You Dance (2000)
I Hope You Dance

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..

Cheers!
Jeannie

I like "UNWELL" by Matchbox 20

Here is a link to a page where you can here the song...

http://www.wyoblue.com/Unwell.htmlUnwell

UNWELL
(written by: Rob Thomas)

All day, staring at the ceiling
Making friends with shadows on my wall

All night, hearing voices
Telling me that I should get some sleep

Because tomorrow might be good for something
Hope gone, feeling like I'm headed for a breakdown And I don't know why

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough, you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

Me, talking to myself in public
Dodging glances on the train

And I know, I know they've all been talking about me I can hear them whisper

And it makes me think there must be something wrong with me

Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow I've lost my mind

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough, you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

I've been talking in my sleep
Pretty soon they'll come to get me
Yeah, they're taking me away

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough, you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

How I used to be
I'm just a little unwell
How I used to be
How I used to be.

Queen - We Are The Champions...this song has brought Lou and I through a lot of scary experiences.

Love, Angela

I've paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I've come through

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world -

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and fortuen and everything that goes with it -
I thank you all -

But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race -
And I ain't gonna lose -

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world -

As Bad As It Gets
 1997 Christine Lavin

This is the darkest hour
of your longest night
you've never been this powerless
or prayed this hard for light
wish there was something I could do
to pull you through
but the only who can handle this now
is you

This is as bad as it gets
if you can make it through this
I'm willing to bet
that you will make it through anything
the world will throw your way
this is as low as you've ever been
if you can reach deep down
tap the power within
I know that you will find the strength
to make it through this day

This is the coldest night
of your bleakest year
it's hard to fight
all the forces that have brought you here
between the anger and pain
amid the losses and gains
there's a space
if you can find it
you will rise again

This is as bad as it gets
if you can make it through this
I'm willing to bet
that you will make it through anything
the world will throw your way
this is as low as you'll ever be
if you can stop for a minute
and listen to me
I know that you will find the strength
to make it through
this day

Nothing in your life has prepared you
for such a troubled time
but you're not one to give up or give in
when your life is on the line

This is as bad as it gets
if you can make it through this
I'm willing to bet
that you will make it through anything
the world will throw your way
this is as low as she goes
if you can reach deep down
tap the power that flows within you
I know that you will find the strength
to make it through this day
and then I know
you will be OK
you'll be alright
don't give up the fight

My favorite has always been, 'I did it my way'--granted it is someone at the end of life, not in the middle, but I still like it:

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
