I am going to be there with my family, but not sure if we are RVing it or tenting it.
I would like to get an Idea as to who is going to be there and if you are RVing or tenting it.

Hi Sent,
I just got my trip tick in the mail, and hope to go. My hubby is a teacher at a local college and I'm not sure if he can get the time off, but we are going to try.
If we go, we'd have to rent an RV or a small cottage as my back couldn't handle a tent

So far Maddog, Jenny and myself, and TX Lyme Mom are in spaces D70-72 respectively, these have water and electricity. Others are coming, I know not what spaces. I think cabins are available too.
Others are coming but these are the only spaces reserved that I know of. Maybe we need a roll call. I know Missy, Melanie, Sent, Kam, No car Dave and others are planning to come if possible.
You have plenty of advance notice folks, these get togethers are a real fun trip. Let's just keep this on the first page till we fill the place up.

I don't think there are any cabins available at this particular camp site because I was hoping to find one, but the website indicated that there weren't any.
Instead, I'm going to have to scrounge around and try to find our old tent or else maybe try to rent a camper. I might not be able to stay for more than just 2-3 nights 'cause I might have to come back home and help pack hubby off to China, or maybe even go with him, if push comes to shove. (I'd rather float on a river in Arkansas than travel to China, you can believe me for sure about that.)

While the actual state park may not have any cabins, there are plenty of cabins very near the park...I'll try and do a search for some if they have websites, otherwise maybe Lymetoo can get ahold of some of their brochures up there in Branson.

I wonder if it might be cheaper to pay the fee to stay in the park for a few nights, whether one actually stays there or not but sleeps in a cabin instead, rather than paying for a whole year's annual pass for all of the National Parks?
It's around $9 per night for the camping spot, and I assume that you are free to come and go in an out of the park as often as you please, such as to make trips out to get fast food or whatever. Maybe I'm mistaken, though.
Any ideas from experienced campers about this?
We're not into the retirees' RV crowd yet (old enough to be, but just not retired with leisure time to travel yet), so I'm not too familiar with how the park service handles situations like this.
Heck, it's been so many years since I've camped out that I'm not sure I even remember how to keep my matches dry for fire-building to cook. I guess I'll be eating lots of cold beans out of a can -- if I can remember to pack a can opener, that is.
Maybe I'd better pack a few extra six packs of suds in hopes I can swap them for matches and a can opener, huh?

Isn't there a one time purchase National Park pass that can be obtained in advance for use here...
so that those of us who may not be staying in the actual park will not have to keep paying the entry fee each day?
I seem to recall that this pass is good for an entire year and can be used at any National Park???
Yes,
It is called "The National Parks Pass". It costs $50.00 and if your a AAA member you can get a discounted rate.
It is good for one year and is good for any National State Park. It admits the driver and all accompanying passengers in a private vehicle to any National State park.
Also when you sign up for the Park pass, you will also get a map of all the National Parks, including info about the parks.
You can order the pass by calling 1- 888- GO PARKS. Or by going to AAA website and order it online. Be sure to mention that you are a AAA member to get your discounted price
Hope this helps!

I'd certainly like to go. I have the camping equipment.
The other logistics need to be worked out.
So, count me as a maybe at this point.

AAAAhh, TC.
I was hoping you wouldn't be able to pass up a trip like this one.
Do we get to see the hat with the fruit on it??
Thanks for the cabin info Rosemary, I could have sworn I saw cabins on a map somewhere but I often can't get into that reservation site late at night, I think they update it then or something.
Maddog picked the site area, he has a camper on his truck, and Jenny and I have a banged up but usable old 'silver bullet' travel trailer, so we wanted water and electric to run the blender. No sewer hookups available though.

I would love to go, but it is just going to be too expensive for me to get there from the UK. It is cheaper to get tickets to big cities (the more popular destinations).
Maybe another time, but I hope you all have a great time.

It's my understanding on the parks I have visited, that they may charge a minimum fee like a couple of dollars per car to say use the picnic tables and not camp. But, if you are just driving through the park, then you won't have to pay anything to visit camper's in the park.
There appears to be several camp sites, I sure hope you guys are all on the same page and not splitting up yourselves by not all getting to the same camping park.

Rosieland that was my reason for putting this up so that we can attempt to get our reservations near eachother. If some are going to do the cabin thing it will be off site lets hope they will at least be together there.
MADDOG are you going to be planning events? like a flotilla one day and a chillie cook off another??? Anyone have a Kareokee machine?? I am not suggesting every moment being planned but a few group events would be great wouldn't they???
