As of today the Support Group listing should not include the Mobile, AL chapter.
Those of you who have our contact information can continue to direct patients in our direction or to the LDA--which will give out our contact information.

Kara, I don't know why you feel you must leave, maybe it's too personal to share and that we understand. I 'd just like to tell you that you do have many folks here that think a lot of you and would really like you to reconsider if possible?
Everyone that shares on this board has a special gift to offer and makes a difference in someones heart and life. Please don't allow a careless or thougtless remark hinder you from your purpose for helping others.
If you can work out the offense with the person or persons that may have offended, often we will discover they didn't mean to deliver such a blow that would wound and they will make things right.
Yes, there are those who don't have good motives and for those we just have to express your feelings and then move on and not let them hinder you.
If there's anything those who appreciate you and would love it if you remain can do, please ask. Just one friend's opinion.......

I think it's very possible that Kara's getting ready for her grand tour of the USA after the Holidays. She's the worlds biggest Crue fan and I'm betting that she's going to see them in every city....no kidding!!

I still think the moderators are unacceptable and our group will continue not to be affiliated with the site (or give money donations--if it folds, then it folds)

Lori,
I posted a story and the moderators sent me a private email implying (or I took it as such) that I was a child molester--or that I approved of child molesters.

it seems alot of people are annoyed with the moderators lately
i've seen different posts saying that from several different people
i, myself, have gotten a rude email, that was uncalled for and unprofessional, from one of the mod's on here. i will have nothing to do with another moderator on here ever again.
if i were in your shoes, i'd do the same thing you've done. cudos to you kara. the only thing i can do is not frequent lymenet - and that is why i'm rarely on here now.

I think that moderating such an active set of boards is an enormous task. It would be easy for a moderator, esp. a new one, to not be aware of individuals' "posting histories".
I think that this was a big factor in this unfortunate misunderstanding. By not having observed Kara's "style" of posting things that make us more aware of the weird world around us - without endorsing what she posts - the mods took that one post out of context and drew conclusions that no one who "knows" her would ever, for one second, draw.
That story was one of many that made my jaw drop at the gall of some people (the guy writing the dissertation and those on his advisory committee)-- but it was posted in the spirit of "look at what this crackpot's getting away with, you guys", with absolutely no indication that Kara would think it was okay. Actually, quite the opposite. You know she was as horrified as the rest of us were by the story, which is why she posted it in the first place.
I e-mailed one of the mods to explain this, that Kara is a gentle soul who would be the last to offend or to condone something so ugly. Others may have done the same.
I think that the mods are now aware of the dangers of looking at individual posts without considering the overall "style" of the poster.
I'm glad to have Kara back and am sorry she had to go through this. Now that you know that the mods have been made aware of the bigger picture, perhaps we can let this drop off the page.
