For whatever reason, this makes me sad. My hope is that as he is humbled by his condition that genuine remorse and repentance might come.

Throughout history there have been others with deeds worse than Saddam's that have been saved spiritually. I pray as well for him.

Well, having fed people feet first into grinders, etc. I have to admit I'm not too concerned about his soul. I think there are some people such as Stalin, Hitler, Saddam, etc. that have been responsible for such extreme suffering of millions and even tens of millions in some cases.....I think they deserve to go to hell.

yeah that's understandable, yet the redemptive mystery is that the love of God that cost the life of Christ his son, is so great for us.

"If " we genuinely are repentant of our sins, accept the blood sacrifice of Christ on our behalf, we then receive the indwelling Holy Spirit which changes us from the inside out (regeneration).

Our hearts are transformed with the desire to love and obey the principles embraced by Jesus.
So, if these conditions are met, even Saddam can be redeemed and forgiven, though for him with his history, it is unlikely he would do a 360 and ask forgiveness of a Judeo Christian God, although anything is possible with God. God gave us our inner conscience at birth for the purpose of worshipping the Creator.

We humans, in God's opinion have perfected the art of turning from God to worship other 'things" that become our little gods.
