I posted this note on another title, but wanted to make sure I said some things before I leave.
Thanks to folks like LabRat, Mo, Lorribelle, LymieTonyZ, lymeloco, treepatrol and others. It's been a real kick in the butt writing to you all. We don't have to agree on everything, but you have to respect your friends.
Lorribelle - Outstanding pictures, great to see the smile. I know you are proud beyond description.
Lymeloco - Keep the faith, he'll be home soon.
Mo - Keep being Mo, but remember to vote Republican, it would do your heart good.
Hopefully, we'll all talk again next year.
Personal Note: I'm coming up on my third deployment, not counting Desert Storm. I can't emphasis too much that we all need to get behind this thing as a country and we need to do it now. Let's find a way to drop the politic of it all and become a united country again.
Some have asked what I do in the Marine Corps; My MOS is 8541, scout/sniper and I have been at it for over 10 of my 15 years in the crotch. My job is not easy, but it's what I've been trained to do and I'm good at it.
I've been home on convalescent leave a little over six weeks, combat fatique (I'm just tired). Great time with family, good food, good bonding with dad and mom. Good to see minor improvement in my sister. Got time to play a little golf with my dad.
During this time I've read more political crap than I can handle. I'm ready to get back to my troops and away from all this nonsense.
The Iraqi front may be coming to a close, it's my opinion that Iran is next. Without a united front from civilian america, we will still win this thing, it'll just make it harder.
I only know a few things for sure,
1. Nothing in that region of the world, including all Saddam's gold, Iraq's or Iran's oil or nothing else is worth one drop of American blood.
2. We didn't ask for this, but we're in it, chest deep. We're right, the enemy is wrong.
3. As a people, the enemy is much more united in their goals than we are in ours.
4. His politics are simple, kill the infidel, that's us.
5. We have much more to lose than he does. I've been there, they have nothing we want, believe me.
6. American GI's know how to read newspapers, they perceive the division in our country and it hurts morale and morale is extrememly important.
7. My job, as a GySgt, is to keep my troops alive, keep discipline and morale high, keep my troops motivated, and make sure we kill more of the enemy than they do of us.
8. I've had too much to drink tonight and I'm a little testy (just got my orders changed from Iraq to Afghanistan again).
So this will probably be my last post for a while. I'm taking my sister on a little get-away. She's not doing so good and I hate to see her hurt this way. She's the love of my life and I want to see her enjoy some things for a while.
You all take it easy. My folks will be actively participating in this board.
I'm done now - Semper Fi
(Keep us all in your prayers, they really help)

Thank you for your reassurance about my son.
It has been an honor and a privilegehaving you on board. You have given many of us the true meaning of Patriotism!
Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Sorry, I know Loribelle tried to explain how to send you a card, but it didn't work out right. It was a Patriotic one that makes people stop and realize how great our country is!

LymeOjai, I just do not know what to say.
I feel such a strange blend of emotions. A unique blend of pride, fear, sadness, respect, humility, gratitude, grief, shame (that we ask this of you)... How can that be put into words? And what would those words mean to a soldier? And dammm this lump in my throat.
I will tell you, as the mother of a soldier who was smack dab in harm's way as well, to write your parents as often as you can. A call or email is wonderful, but a letter can be read over and over again, and seem as fresh every time. I still have every letter written me by my son; treasures, even when only a few sentences! Amazingly comforting.
I appreciate the little while you have given us to get to know you here in OT. I feel that every American should have a name or a face come to mind when they hear the word "troops". That is one reason I have kept Chad "on the board" here, (shared my worry, haha!) to make it personal.
I got good at making up "I CARE" packages - I still have some of those flat rate boxes and customs forms from the post office
Check your PM...
Keep your head down but your chin up, keep your head on a swivel, and your faith strong... Be careful what you let "stick" in your head, give the rest to your Guardian Angel. Take care of you... [hug]
Thank you so much for bringing the serviceman's perspective to us--I know you can't speak for all of them, but your thoughts jived with what most of us believed their thinking to be.

Oh -- this is hard, and I don't know what to say. I am not at home myself and not sure if you are already gone from here..
Your sister's lucky to have you all.. she'll be OK, it takes time and support. It can be a rough road.
Thanks for sharing your views here, I have thought allot about some of the threads we have had going.
You clearly posess great courage (and humility), honor, and respect for others, even the ones that piss you off .. that's rare and essential these days IMO.
There will always be those who do not agree (with the politics of this thing and some of the domestic players).. and I know there are challanges you all face that would be best met without conflict here at home.
From what I see, tho -- we are united as a country behind you all and your work, courage, skill, morale, sacrifice and dedication. I respect your conviction a great deal.
Peace has its victories, and it takes brave men and women to win them.
For you --
May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face The rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again May God hold you In the palm of His hand.

My prayers are with you - I for one am deeply grateful to you and all the others who fight for us (America) to keep us safe and free.
Without the sacrifices of people like you none of us would be enjoying the way of life that we take so much for granted. (I hope my lyme-brain is making sense)
Thank you, and may God richly Bless you!
