Why them did all of those things happen (or not happen)?
Why did he publicly state over and over he did not know the dangers???

The gov hearings are uncovering that indeed, the state and local was not the bearer of the brunt of the failures.
So, Bush admin lied and placed blame on LA, NO, and when that press didn't work in shifting blame entirely -- they finally slammed Brown!

Look at what Brown was doing. Their fall guy truly was doing a heck of a job.

It's the lies that are so chilling. You should see the video, it really does send chills.

- nothing much surprises me anymore, and I am actually stunned at this.

Video Shows Bush Was Warned Before Katrina
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP)--In dramatic and sometimes agonizing terms, federal disaster officials warned President Bush and his homeland security chief before Hurricane Katrina struck that the storm could breach levees, put lives at risk in New Orleans' Superdome and overwhelm rescuers, according to confidential video footage.

Bush didn't ask a single question during the final briefing before Katrina struck on Aug. 29, but he assured soon-to-be-battered state officials: [b]"We are fully prepared."

The footage--along with seven days of transcripts of briefings obtained by The Associated Press--show in excruciating detail that while federal officials anticipated the tragedy that unfolded in New Orleans and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast, they were fatally slow to realize they had not mustered enough resources to deal with the unprecedented disaster.

Linked by secure video, Bush's confidence on Aug. 28 starkly contrasts with the dire warnings his disaster chief and a cacophony of federal, state and local officials provided during the four days before the storm.

A top hurricane expert voiced "grave concerns" about the levees and then-Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Michael Brown told the president and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that he feared there weren't enough disaster teams to help evacuees at the Superdome.

"I'm concerned about ... their ability to respond to a catastrophe within a catastrophe,"
Brown told his bosses the afternoon before Katrina made landfall.

Some of the footage and transcripts from briefings Aug. 25-31 conflicts with the defenses that federal, state and local officials have made in trying to deflect blame and minimize the political fallout from the failed Katrina response:

--Homeland Security officials have said the "fog of war" blinded them early on to the magnitude of the disaster. But the video and transcripts show federal and local officials discussed threats clearly, reviewed long-made plans and understood Katrina would wreak devastation of historic proportions. "I'm sure it will be the top 10 or 15 when all is said and done," National Hurricane Center's Max Mayfield warned the day Katrina lashed the Gulf Coast.

"I don't buy the `fog of war' defense," Brown told the AP in an interview Wednesday. "It was a fog of bureaucracy."

--Bush declared four days after the storm, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees" that gushed deadly flood waters into New Orleans. But the transcripts and video show there was plenty of talk about that possibility--and Bush was worried too.

White House deputy chief of staff Joe Hagin, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco and Brown discussed fears of a levee breach the day the storm hit.

"I talked to the president twice today, once in Crawford and then again on Air Force One,"
Brown said. "He's obviously watching the television a lot, and he had some questions about the Dome, he's asking questions about reports of breaches."

--Louisiana officials angrily blamed the federal government for not being prepared but the transcripts shows they were still praising FEMA as the storm roared toward the Gulf Coast and even two days afterward. "I think a lot of the planning FEMA has done with us the past year has really paid off," Col. Jeff Smith, Louisiana's emergency preparedness deputy director, said during the Aug. 28 briefing.

It wasn't long before Smith and other state officials sounded overwhelmed.

"We appreciate everything that you all are doing for us, and all I would ask is that you realize that what's going on and the sense of urgency needs to be ratcheted up," Smith said Aug. 30.

Mississippi begged for more attention in that same briefing.

"We know that there are tens or hundreds of thousands of people in Louisiana that need to be rescued, but we would just ask you, we desperately need to get our share of assets because we'll have people dying--not because of water coming up, but because we can't get them medical treatment in our affected counties,"
said a Mississippi state official whose name was not mentioned on the tape.

Video footage of the Aug. 28 briefing, the final one before Katrina struck, showed an intense Brown voicing concerns from the government's disaster operation center and imploring colleagues to do whatever was necessary to help victims.

"We're going to need everything that we can possibly muster, not only in this state and in the region, but the nation, to respond to this event,"
Brown warned. He called the storm
"a bad one, a big one" and implored federal agencies to cut through red tape to help people, bending rules if necessary.

"Go ahead and do it," Brown said. "I'll figure out some way to justify it. ... Just let them yell at me."

Bush appeared from a narrow, windowless room at his vacation ranch in Texas, with his elbows on a table. Hagin was sitting alongside him. Neither asked questions in the Aug. 28 briefing.

"I want to assure the folks at the state level that we are fully prepared to not only help you during the storm, but we will move in whatever resources and assets we have at our disposal after the storm," the president said.

A relaxed Chertoff, sporting a polo shirt, weighed in from Washington at Homeland Security's operations center. He would later fly to Atlanta, outside of Katrina's reach, for a bird flu event.

One snippet captures a missed opportunity on Aug. 28 for the government to have dispatched active-duty military troops to the region to augment the National Guard.

Chertoff: "Are there any DOD assets that might be available? Have we reached out to them?"

Brown: "We have DOD assets over here at EOC (emergency operations center). They are fully engaged. And we are having those discussions with them now."

Chertoff: "Good job."

In fact, active duty troops weren't dispatched until days after the storm. And many states' National Guards had yet to be deployed to the region despite offers of assistance, and it took days before the Pentagon deployed active-duty personnel to help overwhelmed Guardsmen.

The National Hurricane Center's Mayfield told the final briefing before Katrina struck that storm models predicted minimal flooding inside New Orleans during the hurricane but he expressed concerns that counterclockwise winds and storm surges afterward could cause the levees at Lake Pontchartrain to be overrun.

"I don't think any model can tell you with any confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not but that is obviously a very, very grave concern," Mayfield told the briefing.

Other officials expressed concerns about the large number of New Orleans residents who had not evacuated.

"They're not taking patients out of hospitals, taking prisoners out of prisons and they're leaving hotels open in downtown New Orleans. So I'm very concerned about that," Brown said.

Despite the concerns, it ultimately took days for search and rescue teams to reach some hospitals and nursing homes.

Brown also told colleagues one of his top concerns was whether evacuees who went to the New Orleans Superdome--which became a symbol of the failed Katrina response--would be safe and have adequate medical care.

"The Superdome is about 12 feet below sea level.... I don't know whether the roof is designed to stand, withstand a Category Five hurricane," he said.

Brown also wanted to know whether there were enough federal medical teams in place to treat evacuees and the dead in the Superdome.

"Not to be (missing) kind of gross here," Brown interjected, "but I'm concerned" about the medical and mortuary resources "and their ability to respond to a catastrophe within a catastrophe."

*************************************************

The nation and the cowardly, inept and sniveling Bush administration owes Michael Brown an apology.

Of course I'm angry and have every reason to call them a few names.
(so.. please, no Bush-hater comments)

People died and suffered all those days because of this, and then they had the gaul to blame others and lie about what they knew and when.

What kind of man does that?

Good to know he watched allot of TeeVeee, tho.

I'm sure you know how propaganda works mo but let us just review some of the points. I guess we would start off creating as much dissention as possible about as many subjects as possible. We maybe should discredit our leaders as much with lies and fabrications about anything and everything as possible. We could say we're doomed and can't possibly win and on top of that Bush caused the whole damn thing. We could get plenty of ideas, mainly off the internet and some from the newspapers.

Everything was probably a mistake. Don't know.

I just watched something that was on C-Span about this... a Congressional hearing where they had a bunch of folks from New Orleans. Apparently, there are a number of people that believe they heard bombs go off. This is the first I ever heard about any thinking like that.

According to testimony, after the worst was over, a diver actually went down and saw a big hole in a levy that he says was blasted out.

They said that the same thing was done in the 30's after a hurricane. The Corps of Engineers did it to funnel the water to certain areas of town. In other words, they thought they could control it better this way, or something. So, it sounds like it has been done before. Don't know. I haven't researched this at all and I doubt there's many facts out there, so it's all hearsay.

This is probably just all hokum. You could tell the people really believed it though, but they are probably wrong... it was probably the tremendous amount of water.

But, don't you think someone ought to look into it?

Did you ever hear of the expression..."act of God"?

I had watched pbs enough times to know that area was in a bad way...so what could have been done about it? Nothing!

I believe GWB has already taken the blame for his part in this disaster...

What more could he have done?

MAYBE the levi's would be breached...no one knew for sure!
No one knew they would break!

What are you gonna do when that big ole volcano errupts in Yellowstone? Blame the CinC?

What are ya gonna do when the continental plates shift and wipe out California or that mountain over in Spain somewhere falls into the ocean and wipes out the Eastern Seaboard?

Blame the Government?

Sheesh!

After all he's not much different than anybody here...when stuff happens and they're caught with their pants down they blame it on something else!

It's called human nature...cuz it's naturally human!

Not saying this towards you Tesque, just in light that people believe this.
Well I look at it like this. If anyone does try to prove it they can't blame the federal government because it was blow everyones theary that the federal govnm. were no-where to be found!

But you never know I'm sure some might think that this was prime oppertunity for Bush to screw American citizens right where they live. You never know maybe it was some of his secret agents from the suicide bombing unit.

We all talk about the concern of the Federal Government usurping too much power, especially the Executive Branch. Yet when the local people, their city government, county government and state government fail to do their job properly, it seems we have to find a scape-goat for the tragedy.

I found the following to be humorous, although some will not.

Bush Fails To Prevent East Coast Blizzard

by Brian Williams NBC 02/12/06

As President Bush and his staff cowered in the White House, the snow continued to pile up on the many poor victims who could not afford to get out of town or to safety in Florida. Crucial supplies of blankets, hot cocoa, popcorn and dark rum - so essential to surviving the stress of any major snowstorm - lay in stores undelivered.

"Where is the government? I need my sidewalk shovelled so I can get out to buy my damn lottery tickets!" said one D.C. resident from his living room. "Why are we wasting money in Iraq when we could be spending it here on me?" Progressive blogs blasted the President for his inaction. "We find the timing terribly suspicious - just as the Domestic Spying hearings kick into high gear, what happens? A major northeast Blizzard. Why now?" wrote blogger FUAmericaNBush2.

Hearings into the Blizzards' effect on hearings are almost a certainty. Howard Dean has suggested he will call for an investigation once his new medications kick in and John Kerry took a break from the sporting activities of the glamourous super-rich in some exotic locale (random choice: Ice Sailing in Finland) to call for new legislation outlawing snowstorms. "The Republican Congress has dropped the ball once again. I have always been a staunch supporter of anti-snow legislation, except for certain locations where I ski. Snow has no business on our roads and the President and Congress knows that."

Calls for impeachment over "SnowGate" as some are calling it already are mounting as deeply as the snow itself, and what will be discovered underneath will prove to have a truly chilling effect on the Republicans, as the inevitable thaw proceeds.

Or something like that.

More breaking news......
Al Sharpton wants an investigation as to why snow is ALWAYS white.

Cheney has stock in Tru-Value Hardware.
Do you have any idea how many SNOW SHOVELS they sold today to the unsuspecting consumer?

I demand to know why FEMA has been so late in reacting to this storm. THEY
KNEW IT WAS COMING! And yet they failed to have crews in place to fix the
electricity as soon as it went off. It just shows that Bush and the Republicans just don't care about the people in the N.E. The Senate needs to investigate this with administration people under oath.

I'll bet that the great junior senator from N.Y. has opened the doors of her home to all of the heatless poor of her neighborhood and is busy baking cookies for them while her husband applies body heat to the nearly frozen teen-aged girls.

I actually think there's enough blame to go around to all levels. Clearly, the local and state governments did not do their jobs well. Neither did the Fed.

Softballmom... I don't think anyone thinks that the whole federal government would be involved in anything. You've heard of black ops though, right? Remember that whole Oliver North thing? Before a lot of it came out, I really backed him. Heck, my parents had sent him money and had one of his videos. He wasn't exactly what he was purporting himself to be, was he? It was very disappointing. That's just one example.

Did you read the de-classified doc I posted about Pearl Harbor? I haven't posted it, but another thing to look at is the de-classified doc on Operation Northwoods (it's about Cuba)--- you can Google it. These are actual government docs that detail some very alarming things that a small group of our government did, or considered doing. In Operation Northwoods, one of the things considered was to kill John Glenn and blame it on Cuba; another was to bomb a ship, complete with all the brave Navy men aboard.... all to blame it on Cuba to justify us going in there.

Again, this was not our entire government. Just a small group.

So... after you read a few things like this, you start to understand that yes, we are capable of doing some things I used to never believe we would do.

Again, I doubt anyone did anything to the levees, but, if for no other reason than to show to the people that live there, that it's ok, we care enough to check, we should investigate it. It shouldn't be that hard.

How does something like this get twisted into an unrealistic expectation?

That Bush should be able to control natural disasters?

I'm sorry, but as President of the United States, there is a plethora of responsibilities and actions that lie between what the Bush administration did..
and jumping to expecting the storm itself was 'their fault'.

LabRat, Tony and LymeDad..

I am hardpressed to find any example where you have not gone to the extreme to blow off any and all concerns regarding the Bush administrations performance.

This is one of the more extreme examples.

What more could he have done you ask?

Well, let's see..

in your view on the one hand...the President is and should be granted All Mighty executive powers in the War on Terror..
to the point of circumventing the law and the Constitution..
and doing so with no oversight.

You support the Patriot Act and the NSA program, as well as unilateral invasion based on untruths.

Yet - here we have the biggest natural disaster in our history..
and suddenly poor George should be excused and cut some slack..
"afterall? what more could he have done?"

Then there is the quick blame of local and state officials, and even the residents themselves.

Do you think another 911 should be primarily the State and Local officials responsibility?

Should not a leader, any leader even a CEO of any company...but especially the President..
in a time of disaster get actively involved?

State and local absolutely made mistakes, however they also, along with the head of FEMA -
made requests of the Federal branch (in a state of emergency) that were acted on extremely slowly.

Then there is the issue of government responsibility in a natural disaster. A disaster of this proportion absolutely requires command decisions by the President, who can make a few calls and mobilize forces immediately -
those were the kinds of forces required that are well above and beyond state and local capabilities.

Then the blame on EVERYONE ELSE came, and then stating
"what? Huh? we had no IDEA the levees would break!"

YET, he had promised the support before the storm!

then allowing Brown to take the fall for political cushioning.

We see now, Brown was aware of and communicating the realtime concerns. He got no help from federal government or the Pres for days.
Little to no action.

We see now that Bush WAS involved in communications regarding the dangers and the impending tradgedy. He knew.

We see also that the levees breaching in a hurricane above Cat 3 has been one of the most dire and well documented concerns regarding National disaster - one of the top ten nightmare sinarios - FOR YEARS.

He was on vacation and stayed there, Chertoff went to make a speech on Bird Flu..

Then the media spin machines went out on very fast and powerful force (if only needed aide moved so well) and made sure we knew all about Nagin and Blanco's mistakes in great detail..

and from Bush just a politically corrent benign
acknowledgement that the federal branch response was 'inadequate'

followed quickly by: 'but we had no idea, and this was a massive storm'

Brown - fired as the scapegoat.

In addition, he told state and local officials (on tape) that the feds were PREPARED TO HELP IN FULL FORCE BEFORE AND AFTER THE STORM.
PREPARED for this.

Yet, the state and local officials were strangled in red tape.

Give me a break.

We are not even safe under Bush in the most viseral sense, not at all, not in any way shape or form.

And on top of it - he is a big fat liar without the honor to take responsibility or accountability.

Not to mention all the damage done in the
'War on Terror'.

I suggest picking up some duct tape.

Mo

Mo my liberal friend,

You've just got to get your sense of humor adjusted Not everything has to be so dark. The piece I posted was sarcasm.

I saw as much humor in the Cheney shooting incident as all of you who posted cartoons and clever jokes.

You've just got to lighten up a little.

Come on now, "Al Sharpton wants an investigation as to why snow is ALWAYS white". That was funny!!!

Life's just too short to be this serious about everything.

I get that about your piece Lymedad..

I actually skipped reading it before I posted, to be honest...

I was responding to the situation, and some of the other post content on this thread.

I don't believe it is 'dark' to react strongly in this case.

Posters here portray Bush as an all-powerful man of action and commitment in War on Middle Eastern sovereign nations - at the same time accept that he was powerless in the case of this massive disaster here on our shores.
-- acting as tho this is 'no biggie.'

Hey Mo...even Brownie addmitted...and even in your initial post it stated only a POTENTIAL for the levi's to be breached...

This situation should have been dealt with many years prior to this storm...

Have you ever gone to the DMV or the IRS offices to get anything done? Just try to get a birth certificate from wherever you were born and you have to fill out forms...and then wait a long time for our govt workers to get moving...it's just a microcosm of Govt in action...an oxymoron...

I enjoyed the piece Dad...made me giggle.

T I thought you were gonna leave and take care of yourself...
The explosion like noise is explained when you think of all the water pressure cracking concrete.....

I added some sarcasm in my post mainly because this subject has been discussed to death. A long time ago I think we went through every inch of the situation in debate on this board.

It is just the same thing over and over again. Isn't it about time that we try to move on. Nothing will ever change what happened or how it was hadled. The focus should be on what is happening now in LA and others effected by the Katrina.

I will say again. From all the research I have seen the state had ample opperatunity and money over the past decade to do something about those levee's but they chose to spend the money elsewhere on less impordant projects. Granted the government never gave them the ammounts they wanted but the money that they did have was always dipped into.
Last year I researched and saw specific ammounts given by government and the small amounts applied by the state. They found other projects to filter more money into than their own levee system of which they all knew had the potential for devestation.

If the state themselves would not put the levee system at the top of the priority list how can they now fault the government for not paying close enouph attention?

I have a question... I have little to no knowledge about this, so would you guys help me out on this?

Back when it happened, I heard that Congress had designated a lot of money to the Corps of Engineers in Louisiana to fix the levees, but that the Corps of Engineers did not spend the money on them, but on something different.

So, I remember thinking... well, they were given the money, it's their fault if they didn't fix the levees. But then, a friend of mine in state government told me that the Corps of Engineers is a federal thing, not a state thing.

I have to admit that I have never looked this up. Is that true? Do any of you guys know?

Just a couple of thoughts. I've been to New Orleans many, many, times and I have some perceptions that are my own, but I'll share them with you to consider as you will.

First off, it's a poor city, probably from corruption. I flew half a dozen Canadian investors to N.O. around 1980-83 to look at hotel properties and apartment complexes. They uncovered the corruption on the second day, went to Bourbon street, got fleeced by the girls, had some fun and then we left to look at properties in other states. I've attended aquaculture conventions there and I've taken my most powerful to medical conventions in N. O.. It's the only place I've seen cigarettes sold individually (not packs) at the neighborhood stores! It's the only place I've seen where gambling riverboats couldn't make enough money to stay, even with a low $500 limit! Most of the neighborhoods (I saw) were very old, a lot of the roofs were sagging, appearing to be on the verge of collapse. I was told that a termite found it's way to N.O., and this critter couldn't be killed and could eat concrete. (not really) A real bad bug though and no one knew what to do about it!

I ran out of time but will share this little dab with you.

Many levels dropped the ball on long term planning years ahead..
but not reinforcing the levees.

All branches...
on Federal, Bush denied funding, as did his predecessors.

Noone is blaming him solely for that, noone is blaming the Bush admin for the storm..

The fact his the administration HAD ALL THE INFO

-- on the impending storm, and on the current state of the levees before they hit.

They also knew of the demographics, the poor with no cars, the hospitals, and the old structures in the city.

To say that he was only told of the potential, or that they would be 'topped' not 'breeched'
is pretty far-reaching and cowardly justification from the White House.

Others blame Blanco for a call where she said at some point that she thought they had not breeched, but she was wrong.

This is ludicrous, and to blow it off as a done deal..let's move on..
is also unreal.

President Bush was briefed, and was asking questions about breeching well before it happened.

He also told everyone they were prepared for anything.

They were not.

In this case with all the info on the integrity of the levees, that storm, and the realtime info..

there is no excuse for not having forces on stand by, red tape cut, all systems go within a day BEFORE it hit.
TO BE READY for the warnings and the worst case happening, not wait till it did happen!

When you have warnings and potential for a long awaited nightmere sinario in New Orleans..

you do not sit back and wait until the levees actually break to be ready and able to respond.

Federal government - predictions of major catastrophe - briefing on major catastrophic dangers - promising they are ready for it - major catastrophe happens - and little response for days.

How can you say this was no big deal?

Regarding the situation for residents to date..
Federal response is still failing miserably..
and the poor are beaten down significantly more than the wealthy and middle class of the area in the aftermath -- once again.

Mo dearest, have I failed to mention in the past that you have a knack for never quite knowing what your talking about?

``The fact his the administration HAD ALL THE INFO'', .....Now mo, just in case you ever decide to visit the gulf coast during, (when hurricane rates are in effect), there is never a time when you ``have all the info'', except after the hurricane has passed!

``there is no excuse for not having forces on stand by, red tape cut, all systems go within a day BEFORE it hit.
TO BE READY for the warnings and the worst case happening, not wait till it did happen!''........
Now mo, let's think about this for a moment, (could be a trap), Your saying Bush should have moved all his assets in to N.O. BEFORE the storm hit? Then who would rescue the assets? You had a plan right, or the guy you copied had a plan to rescue the assets, right?

How many times has an American city been totally evacuated in our total history of existence? We've had some cities destroyed but can't recall ever having a city ordered evacuated. N.O. has a mayor, (who should know the city better than anyone), La. Has a governor, who should know her state pretty well, both these idiots are democrats I do believe, which by it's self implies a learning disorder! I remember seeing aerial footage of a large number, maybe 30 or 40, flooded school buses, all parked in their lot. Not only could these buses been driven to safety and saved but thousands could have been ferried to higher ground if they had had a plan in place. A lot of political people in La.'s Chain of command fell down (and couldn't get up) mo and because Bush wasn't standing over everything with a bull horn, you take strips of meat off him, left, right and center! Man! I'd hate to have you on my side in a gang fight or a war!

IMO, they simply didn't have a plan to cover this or if they did, it wasn't a very good plan. Now the government is building shelters around the country to enable a city to be evacuated, for whatever reason, with a place where people can go or be transported for shelter, food and medical, but look how that is being looked at by the left. Bush is gonna lock everybody up in a camp! Well, I guess we'll just keep ``gumping'' along with suggestions and help from the left!

Dearest LabRat...

Give me a friggin' break. I guess he must have looked into his crystal ball years ago, because these 'vacation spots' were being built long before Katrina.

I'm sure you heard of Rex 84, coordinated by good 'ol Ollie North. Building these facilities was a priority way back then. The reasoning then was also to provide for a major influx of illegal aliens.

Furthermore, the press release to explain the new visible moneys allocated to build more didn't even say anything about these 'vacation spots' being used for shelter for people displaced by natural disasters. This is what they said:

"The contract, which is effective immediately, provides for establishing temporary detention and processing capabilities to augment existing ICE Detention and Removal Operations (DRO) Program facilities in the event of an emergency influx of immigrants into the U.S., or to support the rapid development of new programs. The contingency support contract provides for planning and, if required, initiation of specific engineering, construction and logistics support tasks to establish, operate and maintain one or more expansion facilities.

The contract may also provide migrant detention support to other U.S. Government organizations in the event of an immigration emergency, as well as the development of a plan to react to a national emergency, such as a natural disaster. In the event of a natural disaster, the contractor could be tasked with providing housing for ICE personnel performing law enforcement functions in support of relief efforts."

The point is that they never said the 'vacation spots' were to be used to shelter evacuees. And you know they were trying to put the best spin on these that they could.

So, why are you trying to say they will be used for evacuees?

I posted their own words, labrat. Why are you attempting to "spin" this?

It's nothing new...

Oh, rex 84, never heard of it. I though you were talking something for 05 or 06. Well, I suspect those are for the tired, huddled mass protesters, who after a day of breaking windows, burning cars and in general slobbering on everything, would need a place to sleep and rest up, prior to being shipped out to a front somewhere and given a clip of ammunition and every other one given an AK-47, (they are cheaper) at least I hope that is the plan. You know T-post, whoever can field the most dupes for a demonstration, wins! The world hates GW, don't you watch the protesters around the world! India is the most populace nation in the world, with well over a billion people and yet 10-20,000 protesters garner world headlines. Don't know much about what he accomplished there, but the internet and the newspapers says India hates bush!

Not quite...

I'll repost a site for you. You can go read about it if you choose.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rex_84

I WAS talking about the new 'vacation spots' being built by Halliburton. You seemed to think that these were being built for evacuees for a coming hurricane, or something, regardless of the fact that this was not mentioned by the people funding them. So, I said that 'vacation spots' of this type were nothing new and gave you a URL in case you wanted to check it out. Rex 84 was talked about during Ollie North's little downfall.

As far as dubya is concerned. His approval ratings are quite low.

We could say we're doomed and can't possibly win and on top of that Bush caused the whole damn thing. We could get plenty of ideas, mainly off the internet and some from the newspapers.

Aaaah LabRat--you're as right as rain on this one, but I think you're flying above the radar here.

What they post is absolutely correct and believable, but nothing else is.

This is why conversing here is pointless, and a waste of precious time. I believe that they're looking for someone to hate, and that alone has become the Holy Grail that they live for.

To believe sooo much evil from one human being is beyond credibility and evil in itself in my opinion.

That's an interesting twist on things, LabRat!

This administration is documented to have spent a billion dollars each year on advertising and media.

That tells you something right there.

All (99% at least - main stream media outlets, TV, paper, cable, satalite) are owned by 6 mega coorperations, with known financial ties to the govermnet. Another red flag.

.. we are seeing a slight shift in some of the media now on the Iraq War, something interesting that I understand also happened during Vietnam here in America..
the media did not begin reporting on what had gone wrong there until the President's poll numbers went way down. We are seeing snippets now and again on Iraq, but we are not seeing what the rest of the World is seeing in the news.

We are not getting any info that is not filtered through the White House and the Pentagon.

We are getting no in depth stories here that are not done by 'hotel journalists' given reports by 'US officials' ..
'US officials say' is constantly repeated in most all War reporting released here.

The Pentagon is filtering some papers articles before they go to print, including the New York Times.

I am relatively certain you and Meg, and a few others will reject this. You are 'in the box', so to speak - it seems,
as I have never seen you source, much less read...and certainly not consider
anything printed outside that box.
(even when a piece of info does come from the mainstream, the 911 commission, whatever..)

There is also something very wrong with having such a drastic disconnect with all other Nation's news accounts.

Unless you believe We are Almighty and above all other nations on Earth.

Here's a partial list, of stories manufactured or at least engineered - and supported by this machine and the White House in America that have proven false:

The link between terrorism, Iraq and 9/11

Iraqi agents meeting with 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta

Iraq's possession of chemical and biological weapons.

Iraq's purchase of nuclear materials from Niger.

Saddam Hussein's development of nuclear weapons.

Aluminum tubes for nuclear weapons

The existence of Iraqi drones, WMD cluster bombs and Scud missiles.

Iraq's threat to target the US with cyber warfare attacks.

The rescue of Pvt. Jessica Lynch.

The surrender of a 5,000-man Iraqi brigade.

Iraqi soldiers dressing in US and UK uniforms to commit atrocities.

WMDs moved to Syria.

Every one of these stories received extensive publicity and helped form indelible public impressions of the "enemy" and the progress of the invasion. Every one of these stories was false.

How many of you still believe they are true?

How many of you can find facts to prove them?

The information refuting all of these is easily confirmed, through non-Partison sources, reports..retractions, ect..
if you care.

Oh, thought of a couple more:

Noone anticipated the the levees would break. The Katrina disaster rescue efforts was mostly State and local gov's fault

India recently greeted Bush as a liberator

Ok, making ice cream with hot fudge from scratch, so got some time to kill. I must confess, I hope your right in some of you assertion, I want to win, not play by some loser's rules! I would like our opponents not to know what hit them, much like this.
