Anybody else watch Biggest Loser? WOW! Saw the wrap-up show tonight... truly amazing what those people have done for themselves! Inspiring! The winner lost 214 pounds! ...and I suppose, uncountable pounds of emotional baggage.
I have been waiting for who knows what, to work on an extra 40 or so pounds (more or less...). One thing one of the trainers said kind of struck a nerve... his advice was "don't wait for January 1st, start today" - something like that.
Well it was too late for today, haha, but maybe tomorrow?
Well at any rate, I think that's a great show and I usually hate reality shows. Hats off to all the participants on the show, just really unbelievable the dedication and accomplishments!

Aint THAT the truth!!! When this show first came out I wasnt thrilled with the choice of titles. But I didnt quite understand what they were doing either.
The people on there are REALLY amazing. I barely recognized the lady from Alaska and the big 407 pound guy that won. I could SEE he had them hands down. The guy from Miami(???) didnt have a chance.
And how about that amazing lady from the home crowd,,,who lost like 55%(??)) of her weight,,,went from a size 22 to a size 2 dress.
Most of those people when they started I didnt give a chance of doing this.
My contention is tho the lady that 'hosts' this needs to train and lose a 'bit' of weight also!!!
The by far drop dead gorgeous lady I didnt even see that way,,,the first one to weigh back in,,,the first to go from the ranch,,,she was absolutely gorgeous and looked like a wonderful person now.
Dropping that much weight that fast has to alter the mental state of the competitor. Just wondered what these people all look like 2 years down the road?? Saw one guy who won a year or two ago pick back up some of his weight and then found out he needed to lose again...
Most people dont have the will power or drive to go this extreme. They 'need' the surgery bypass to get to their goals. Know somebody like that,,,went from compulsive eater to a compulsive gambler when weight was not an issue any more!!Sure 'looks' good tho!!!
Also heard after the stomach reduction surgery people lose weight by tons and then put it back on as they stretch baack out the small eatting portion sizes that got them small.
Thank goodness,, I am a little overweight too,,,but not obese like these people are/were!! Working out is torture for me tho!!cause I am --just don--

I think it is just so awesome that a TV show is doing so much good! This is the first season we watched it, started about the time the winner - 407 lbs starting weight - lost 100 pounds. By the second show we watched, we were hooked.
I have never been skinny, never been an athlete, never been more than 50 pounds overweight. BUT I know that people are treated 'differently' because of appearance. I have experienced that... makes me mad.
I was a painter (walls, not portraits ) for many years. Never dressed up, never wore make up or did my hair or nails... Dressed in jeans and a t or flannel shirt. Just was never a girly girl.
Then for a while I sold real estate and had to dress the part. Make up, tended tresses, usually a dress and heels ( just the thought kills my back!)
Huge difference in how store clerks treated me (by what I was wearing), no helpful smile in any aisle when I was in jeans and flannel with hair in a pony tail. More help than I wanted when I was 'dressed up'.
Frankly I was a very good and busy painter, but sucked at selling real estate. I could afford the snooty stores when I was painting and frumpy, NOT when I dressed nicer and my har & nails were done, HA!
It was positively WIERD - the difference in how I was treated by strangers. That always just p'd me off. I am the same person regardless of what I am wearing, how much I weigh, how much money I make.

I 'used' to do that too,,,when I was young and dumb and full of spunk and vinegar.
As I got older I found I was withdrwing from being a 'people' person. Just couldnt get on the right wave length any more with them. Plus there is NO loyalty in THAT game. Old guy always said "Buyers are liars!!!"
I got into somethings that DIDNT talk back!! I enjoyed THAT! But now that chapter of my life is over now too!!! Guy asked me this week what I was going to do NOW??? I dunno, time will tell!!!
Actually looking for something I can do or take orders for at 'home'. Any worthwhile work-at-home ideas anyone has 'heard' of anyone "SUCCESSFULLY" doing???

TuTu, I agree tutu, it was really fast. I think the TV part was about three months, then the at home part at least 5 so a total of 8 months at least. I say that cause the one gal showed back up as one of the final four 5 months pregnant. That HAD to occur after she got back home from the ranch. SOO I would say 8-9 months over all.
They were losing like 3-5% of their body weight per week,,lots of weeks the big guy lost over 20 pounds per week. Thats really FAST. Makes you wonder if its too fast.
They do have doctors monitoring those people there tho,,,good idea prob. The big guy cured his dibetes and cholesterol just by losing the weight. Have heard alot of people controlling there weight and fixing there problems.am still--just don--
