I'm not a coffee drinker either....but I think you do have to grind them. Some stores have grinders right there.
Why don't you take them back and ask if you can grind them?

Hmmm? I didn't notice a grinder there, but then again, I wasn't really looking.
I bought them at Giant. Thanks though!

you have to grind the beans, hon.
i did exactly the same thing -- i wanted this special coffee and didn't know anything about how to get it. the beans were in a big bin and you had to measure them, then grind them.
luckily, there was a department coffee man and he helped me.
don't think i'll do that again -- ended up costing me about 15 bucks for a teeny weeny little bag.

I did the same thing- I ground it in Sarah's flour mill. The next time I made bread it was a little caffeinated- The flavor was actually noticeable and quite good... ... Of course I realize not everyone has a grain mill floating around... Youmight try a hammer and a piece of cloth, but dried coffe beans are pretty hard. Or, you could soak the beans before you u\se them; I'm not sure what would happen, though.... Then of course especially if you belong to a cooperative grocery store, you could just take them to the store and ask (or not- but then you might have some explaining to do... ) if you could grind them there! Personally,,I dont think coffee helps win the battle against lyme!!
In fact it MAY cause considerable sxs on its own!! Why not try cutting out all coffee and SEE if it helps YOU!!!
Same way with alchoholic drinks,,and same with soda pop!!!
YUP,,,Jack is a dull boy,,,drink tap water, its almost free, cheap and good for you!!! IF its not wholesome,,,they wouldnt be allowed to put it in your faucet!!(its tested 50 ways to Sunday!!) I do--just don--

Speaking of coffee. I get this mode every once and a while to have coffee.
Purchase a bag and then do not like the taste and it goes to waste.
What say ye? What coffee works for you?
or perhaps it is my coffee maker??

Equal Exchange Bolivian is real good. I didn't used to ever drink coffee- sometimes it even made me sleepy, and it upset my stomach and gave me "the runs". But I discovered that organic didn't raunch my gut as much, (or maybe I just got used to it...) And the fresh stuff has a much better flavor.
I didn't drink coffee much at all fighting lyme, though. I saw that caffeine was advised against. Also, my gut coudn't stand even a bit of extra raunchinesss with all those meds I had to choke down! DaveS

Ah.
I'm not giving up coffee. I would main line it in my vein if I could figure out how.
I like mine black with a little sugar.
That's right..SUGAR. Not aspertame or splenda or stevia. When I drink tea, I sweeten with lemon. Maybe that offsets all my "habits".
Heck, 34 years of Lyme and I am alive...some of which I attribute to coffee.
No wonder you folks have so much fatigue. You aren't drinking coffee!!

I think it makes a huge difference fighting lyme to "bar no holds", or whatever the expression is....
From my view now--though I'm not a doc or anything-- if you really need an upper- drink, try YERBA MATTE. I gives incredible amount of energy but doesn't raunch the gut. It dosn't have the crash the coffee gives, though it is true that all coffee is not the same in this regard. Equal Exchange Organinic Peruvian is also very good. Funny story (or not*)! this newbie who is from CT and had Lyme there years back came here to grad school got lymed again went to local doctor and the doc told him, "You definitely are having recoccurence of lyme disease."
guy said, 'Well, I should be on IV then." (bad case)
doc says: "We don't treat Lyme here."
guy: in your office?
doc: In CALIFORNIA*)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sarah note: ha ha ha (funny joke not over)
Guy: stunned, sits in silence
Doc: The only thing I can tell oyu to do is drink alot of coffee! It'll help your brain.
TRUE STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is that sad or WHAT??
(Answer: criminal, malpractice I WISH, how )@^@ !! that they can get away with that cr(!p!)
But hey, any newbies who can't get Lyme treatment- DRINK A LOT OF COFFEE IT WILL HELP YOUR BRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
