I have used travelocity.com in the past. I usually fly Delta, but that is a personal preference, and their rates are usually lower. However, sometimes they do not show up on the travelocity site, so I just call them direct (their website does not work for me).

I have found that booking at least 3 weeks in advance,
flying on weekday, and perhaps staying over a weekend provide better rates.

I have found the best rates are during non-peak seasons, such as late Sept (after the summer vacation period), Oct, Nov.

avoid the week before and after our Thanksgiving.

Avoid ten days before Xmas.

Best deals were Sept., Oct., first part of Nov., first part of Dec., Jan, Feb., March (steadily increasing prices as you approach Spring.)

I use Enterprise Car Rental...better cars than Thrifty, but cheaper than Avis, etc. I have found them to be very user friendly. Rates sharply vary depending on what part of U.S. they are rented. (i.e. less than 30 to 50.00 per day.)

Those are just my experiences, and I dont work for them, etc.

My one experience with hotel.com was very ppoor, and I just book direct now. Hotel rates are more expensive on weekdays, as they target the business traveler. I get weekend rates, which are cheaper, if vacationing.

There are some places that offer weekly rentals for a studio type arrangement. marriot has them (maybe that is Springhill suites, and there is a homewood suites.) Rates are cheaper than a standard hotel room. Plus, there is a frig and tiny stove, to save money on restaurants.

Kayak.com searches all of the major travel sites, (excluding site59.com and sidestep)
