i'm just curious and don't mean to offend anyone. we have such a diverse group here. meaning that some are truly knowledgeable about the sciences and how lyme affects us and all.
so i'm thinking that since i was an english major and don't understand squat about sciences, that some of you are pretty dang well educated.
so hubbie has a degree in mathematics and psychology and ms in engineering. me, just plain ole english.
but i do love astronomy, palentology, and astrology and mythology.
so what's going on with ya'll??
just being nosy......

Education :
I have a BFA (bacholors of fine art) and I had a concentration (which is like a minor) in art education.
Interests:
As far as reading besides art, poetry my other intrests are psycology and sociology. Although I dont read a whole lot these days.
I must say i have always vehemently hated math. Actual I am pretty sure calculus should be considered creul and unusual punishment.
Besides social sciences, I do like some other sciences but not the ones that get all tangled up with mathematic equations (like chemistry and pysics)But its just stuff that interests me I dont have a background in it.
And the part of my brain that spells is just broken... I was one of the best spellers in the grade till I hit 7th grade then something broke and I havent been able to spell well since.
And randibear since your field was english, I apologize for all my grammital errors.... not that you could ever tell from my posts but when I am fully awake, coherent, and all "here" my grammar actually is not that bad.

AA in psychology and a BS in Health Care Science/Forensic Science.
I loved the topic of organic chemistry but I had a sucky teacher and it was hell to get through! Lab was a blast though.
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed calculus, which surprised me.
Immunology was fascinating.

I have a Bachelor's in Arts with the specialty being Speech, Language Therapy.
My Master's is in Education.
I hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology), CCC-SLP.
I am certified for birth to three year olds.
Certified to have a student teacher.
Of course, as I can't find words to speak most days, and have difficulties with articulation,
Right now, those degrees are pretty to look at, but impossible to utilize.

I have a BS in psychology and a masters degree in mental health counseling.
I have worked with battered women, juvenile sex offenders, and most recently worked as an outreach worker with the homeless (the best job I ever had!).

My undergrad work was in Deaf Education.
I had a K-8 credential.
Undergrad and some grad work in special ed.
Now I are one...special ed student that is due to lyme disease and most possibly ignorance of doctor's who either did not know about lyme or did not care to know and I feel lack of good testing.
Since it seems most docs ignore the person and go by the limiting testing they have.
On paper I am a walking picture of health.
Most days, I can not be on me feet for longer than 5 or 10 min at a time.

B.A. Big *ss
M.S. More of it
PhD Piled higher and deeper.
He had his PhD. Like a guy who doesn't take himself so seriously.
Kind of thought I would get my PhD but doesn't seem that important right now.

well here goes BS honors in chemistry/ biochemistry and have no idea what marnie prints. taught undergrad chemistry to nurses. Doctor of dental surgery Univ of Maryland. grad with honors. stat lab tech in dental school at night for large hospital. residency U.S. Public Health Hospital Staten Island Ny grad with grad of 93 second highest in country of 60 residents. Head of Dental Department US public health outpatient clinic Savannah.
Loss of Brain function 2000. now have bs(bull S***) degree in being sick. working on masters along with caveey.

BS in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing.
I took 36 credit hours of Spanish ... but the business school had no such thing as a Spanish minor, so it was almost all elective credit.

1978-1979 really had fun running the high school yearbook as the editor.
1979-1984 really had fun learning to juggle and even more fun climbing trees, rocks (with ropes) and mountains (top of Shasta once) in between computer engineering classes. They gave me a BSEE when I finished. (Oh, and I visited Nantucket and probably got a tick bite. My handwriting changed during those years and has never again been as good as when I took drafting in high school).
1989 tried to work on a masters in telecommunications while leading a small software development team. Gave up after 3 courses because I didn't have the stamina for it.
2005-2007 crash course in chronic illness due to personal reasons.

Wow, lots of social science/helping professionals here. Throw another one on the pile.....BA in Psych, Masters in Counseling Psych. Spent the 'early years' in my career as a substance abuse counselor and educator, and as a social worker at a children's home. Then spent 18 years teaching psychology at a community college. Lyme forced me to 'retire' and have been out of work and on the disabled list for the last 6 years.
I just started back to work at the community college on a very small scale (about 10 hrs a week) in academic advisement. It is great to be back with the students and it is a job my lyme brain and body can handle right now. I'm still not put together sufficiently to teach, but I am well on my way and hoping maybe in another year or so I can start back teaching a class. cootiegirl

I've worked the past 6 years for a labor union. As of a few months ago, I work on getting our lowest wage workers health care, ideally without the insurance companies in the picture.

Oh yeah, just the other night I had another "hard knock". Fortunately I was wearing a helmut. Unlike previous instances, this one didn't involve automotive assault-- but rather, I shouldn't have been going so fast on a street with big holes in the concrete.
So now I have a huge recovery ahead of me-- I broke my collarbone in 2 places, for one thing. And I probably have a cracked rib, along with lots of lots of "contusions"...
But after I'm through this karma, "there will be no turnin' back", as the song goes....

I think I was with Charlie at the frat parties, but somehow I managed to get a BS(can be interchangeable for other things) in Health and PE, K to 12. Then an equivalency in PE.
But Ruth and others, a degree makes no one better than anyone else. I just go to less frat parties now. And all seems worthless when you can't get an ill child healed. lmt

I started college as a Communications Major I left I went back as an English major. I developed some really bad neuro and athritis symptoms, audio reception problems, quit, got a job, haven't been back.
I got a job you are supposed to have a degree to have, if that makes any difference. I work in a software comapny..nothing to do with what I started school to do.
But I developed a knack for computers...I am definately a geek and a nerd and a spaz so I fit right in here.
