I signed up for facebook and found some people online that I think I know. I can't read any of their posts or discussions. What am I doing wrong? When I click on their name, it just shows a list of their friends. Do I have to be accepted as a friend before I can see anything? Someone please give this FB newbie a lesson.

Yes, you have to become friends with the person and wait for them to accept your friend request before you can view their profile.

Some people set themselves to allow you to view them without being friends with them. Not many people do this though.
