My "show" went very well Tuesday. Everyone enjoyed the songs and some even joined in singing the choruses with me. The laughed at my jokes and a good time was had by all.
I even had one resident offer me a dollar for my performance and I asked the activities director if I should get one of those big glasses like piano players use for tips! She just laughed.
I also did a more serious "show" on Monday for Memorial Day (we were having rootbeer floats and I offered to sing). I did things like "Puff the Magic Dragon", "Home Again" (by John Denvber) and "Mr. Bojangles".
People joined in singing with me and one of the staff sang John Denver's "You fill up my Senses" while I accomanied her on the guitar and sang harmony. All in all it was a lot of fun for me and I've gotten lots of compliments from staff and residents alike.
